China's biggest cybersecurity company apparently just shipped an AI assistant with its own SSL private key sitting inside the installer. Qihoo 360, think Norton or McAfee, but dominant across the entire Chinese market
It appears that their new AI product, 360安全龙虾 (Security Claw) bundles a wrapper on @OpenClaw. Inside the installer package - accessible to anyone who downloaded it - was a private SSL certificate key for the domain *.myclaw.360.cn. An SSL private key is essentially the master password to a website's encrypted connection. With it, an attacker can impersonate 360's servers, silently intercept user traffic, forge a login page that looks completely legitimate, or possibly take over the AI agent altogether. The cert is valid until April 2027 and covers every subdomain on the platform. It's now public. The founder launched the product with a promise it would "never leak passwords". It did that during release? 461 million users, a $10B valuation, and nobody checked the zip file before shipping. The cert expires April 2027.

So let me get this straight after seeing all your arguments...I see three problems/oddities with what you said.
1. you are trying to play the "principle" card, because you are DIRECTLY COMPETING with Steam. When Sony via PSN, Xbox, Nintendo do it for an even longer time than Steam did however, you are completely silent about it. What a coincidence (pic relevant)
2. Also, a thought experiment - lets say you are an official seller or reseller, and you are selling a product at a promo deep-discount.
Someone clears up your stock on the deeply-discounted price, and when the promo event ends, this person sets up a shop somewhere else, selling the product at slightly above the promo price but still much less than the official price.
This drives foot traffic and the official seller misses out on a lot of sales, because people choose to buy from the undercutter.
What would YOU do Tim, if you were the official seller.
3. Have you considered the free-rider problem at play too? Steam doesn't just sell a game, they provide infrastructure and service post-purchase - Steam Community, refund provision, Workshop, backend for devs to upload their patches and DLC updates.
Would YOU allow resellers to undercut you, while STILL paying for the overhead of maintaining the post-purchase services? You get none or a fraction of a fraction of the gains...but you still pay practically 100% of the post-purchase service costs.
Materia Music is hiring a new person to handle YouTube copyright shenanigans.
That means Sebastian Wolff will will no longer be in charge of communicating on these matters.
Hopefully any other individual issues can be addressed by the new person too.
Unfortunately, the way this change was communicated and handled publicly to creators was terrible. People were shocked by the change and I hadn't heard about it until it was already implemented. But, I have some good news...
Recently there has been another surprise issue with music copyright on YouTube. YouTube is changing the way it works again, and Materia Music decided the best way to deal with this was to turn certain videos to "revenue sharing" to protect them from copyright strikes.
For all of my new followers who are confused AF when they hear we are rocking C23, C++23, and the bleeding-edge on our Sega Dreamcasts, here’s the talk I gave at FOSDEM 2024 in the GCC devroom about our epic quest to bring nice, modern things to a game console from 1999!
