It's actually worse than that. There are magic words in the English language that, once uttered, completely shut down people's capacity for rational thought. "Racism" is only one of them.

It's worse because in the instance of sin, there still can be rational discussion i.e. "Was a sin really committed?" "Are there mitigating factors?" and most importantly "How can it be forgiven?"

What we have in the case of "racism" isn't an offense, it's a thought-terminator. The accusation is a get-out-of-jail-free card from any sort of thought because you can immediately declare yourself morally superior in all instances and the accussed an irredeemable jackal.

Dracula is not about “sexual repression”. Most people misrepresent this incredible story because they have nefarious agendas, zero historical knowledge of the Victorian era outside of leftist framing, or simply cannot read.

The way that a culture treats the myth of the Vampire reveals a great deal about that culture itself.

Its values, morals, taboos and desires can all be understood based on how it tells the story of the demon that steals the lifeblood of mortals to survive. The demon that hides from the sun and preys on women, in the howling darkness of the night. Today’s vampire is debonair, sexy and alluring. But the vampire of Bram Stoker’s time was vile, disgusting, horrible to look at. At no point in this book was Dracula “sexy”.

He didn’t represent a hidden desire of the women he preyed upon. He represented instead the selfishness and greed that can corrupt a man’s soul. This is apt for the Victorian Era when greed was man’s downfall.

Many people perceive the Victorian era to be a time of sexual repression and they falsely interpret works from this time period with this lens. This they believe simply because the work from this time period lacks sexually explicit vulgarity to which we have become accustomed today. But vulgarity is no indicated of sexual freedom. In fact comparing the large Victorian families and the beautiful artwork created during that time to today’s sterile art scene, sexless marriages and barren homes…it is the modern world that is sexually repressed.

This is why our modern vampire demon is the incubus. And the Victorian one is of a greedy aristocrat willing and capable of abusing and controlling the common man for his own gain. It is interesting to note also that Stoker’s story does not neglect the role of God in helping us to fight these demons, however they appear to us. In the end, it is only through God’s help that the friends, the heroes of the story, are able to save the heroine Mina from the curse, and kill the demon Count Dracula.

Today’s Vampire story hardly ever discusses the soul, let alone the role of God in helping us defeat him. Today’s Vampire story in fact is about how exciting it would be to become a vampire…to gain his superpowers. With none of the discussion of the corruptions of the spirit that one would incur as the cost. The Faust story today casts Faust as a superhero to be envied, rather than a man to be pitied for his hubris.
