There’s no Adult Nigerian who doesn’t pay tax.

One way or the other, you pay tax…knowingly or unknowingly.

In July, for instance, my savings account gained a capitalized interest credit of ₦63,273.53.

Automatically, a state WHT of ₦6,327.35 was deducted from that gain.

So, it is very disingenuous for anyone to claim Nigerians do not pay tax.

Also, it’s not that Nigerians are unwilling to pay tax. The problem is that when leaders have a track record of diverting funds and wasting taxpayers’ money on personal gratification, trust becomes eroded. As a result, people are neither happy nor confident that their taxes will truly work in their favor.
