@ick_real Meditate/sit in silence and watch your thoughts go by. Studies show it can be as effective as an SSRI. It’s free, easy and life changing. Trains you not to react to every thought you have
@emzanotti So true. It's difficult for the average person to wrap their mind around how long extremely traumatic grief can impact someone - it can be years of running on autopilot and that's without the whole world's criticism added in.
I don't typically pray for sports, but if you see me interceding on behalf of Georgia Tech's defense tomorrow.....mind ya business. #georgiatech#gojackets#GTfootball#please
@pbprot In college, my mom was riding in the car with her boyfriend at the time and my dad was in the backseat and my mom was turned towards the backseat talking to my dad the whole car ride. My dad said why don't you date me instead. They've been married almost 40 years
An online echo chamber rarely discussed is one of generations - younger generations need to proactively and frequently seek the wisdom of those on the other side of early parenthood
The argument about kids is always narrowly focused on the early years, which is weird because as is commonly known, those years FLY by. They are a blip.
Some of these studies should ask parents of older or grown children how they feel about parenting or happiness, joy etc.
I'm in my mid-50's; my two kids are in their 20's. What I feel is.. overriding love for my kids no matter what they do, a great hope that I'll have grandchildren some day—and also regret that I didn't more kids.
I think four would have been a great number, but at least three. I wish we had the makings for a clan. I want big holiday dinners with all my kids and their babies coming over. I wish my kids had a larger society of siblings, a club that no one else belongs to or can imagine. I love both my kids so much, and I wish there were more of them.
Through the years, I think sometimes about the third kid I didn't have, how old she'd be, what she'd be like. I told my daughter, 22, this recently, and she said she does the exact same thing. It's like we live with the ghost of a child who never existed.
Georgia Tech survives and will move to 7-0.
The last time @GeorgiaTechFB was 7-0:
-The Falcons were in their inaugural season
-The Braves were in their first year in Atlanta
-The Hawks were still the St. Louis Hawks
-Lyndon B. Johnson was President

@hirschibar I have co-workers in California that do and friends who put their kids in church kindergarten instead for more of a 9am-1pm schedule but that's all I know
@hirschibar Also specifically focused on swim/tennis neighborhood with an actual swim team that gets neighbors together all throughout summer, lots of moms home, etc. Full day kindergarten tho. Still close to grandparents. Lots of pros
@hirschibar We intentionally chose the Cobb side of Roswell for this and our specific high school district - less expensive than Fulton county, less busy than Fulton county, we chose the high school with less competition/not as sports focused/way less of a drug reputation 😬 but still good
