1. As children, we used to look forward to the exchange of dishes among families. It wasn’t daily, but often enough to get etched strongly in our memories. A tengot/bowl or two of something delicious would leave our kitchen, and likewise we will also receive from our neighbours.
2. These moments now carry layers of meaning but at that time the thrill was tasting something diferent from our usual meals. Mama would scold affectionately when she caught us enjoying an aunt’s cooking too much. She would also beam with pride when told her dishes vanished fast.
✨ We are back with the immortal love story of smoked pork and soibum (bamboo shoot) for those who prefer meat & zesty laphu tharo bora thongba (banana blossom fritters curry) for veg lovers. Both thalis come with 4 other dishes.
