Did the BJP take help from Kuki militants during election? As per the chief, his group UKLF and another group UPF helped BJP candidates win. Now why is that BJP silent? Come and stop the mayhem. https://t.co/PEi04DidTU

Our member @AnganaCk recently travelled to #Manipur & #Nagaland to understand & report on current phase of #Manipur conflict with tensions rising between Naga & Kuki communities. She went without waiting for funds. She has a small appeal. Please stay tuned for her stories.
@zeptocares I DM but message was not sent. Kindly provide a customer support number or an in app support system where issues relating to delivery can be addressed.
The violence in #Manipur continues. Civilians are kidnapped and killed, and their villages are being burnt. The conflict is now escalating between the Kuki-Zo and Naga community groups in the hills.
For more than three years now, those living amidst the violence are losing out on family, friends and livelihoods.
The conflict may not make headlines today in the rest of India, but it's brewing ominously for the people of Manipur. What, and who, is pitting the Naga and Kuki-Zo people against each other?
To find answers, my colleague @AnganaCk is right now reporting in Manipur and Nagaland. We didn't wait to fundraise for her travel and reporting. It was urgent.
Please donate for Angana's reporting and travel. Her investigative reports will be published soon. Please support The Reporters’ Collective @reporters_co if you want to support fearless investigative journalism.

So worth listening. All the more, for journalists keen on reporting on conflict. The conflict is what you see, the human tragedy is what we live, day after day, decade after decade...
Long Conversation: The conflict in #Manipur between Kuki-Zo and the Naga community is rising.
I spoke to the thoughtful and sharp C Kowa Kobai of ThreeFree Podcast from Ukhrul, Manipur. On narrative wars, State failure and the abject blindness of mainland Indian media and civil society.

Read till the end:
SpiceJet cancelled my Delhi to Srinagar flight (PNR: H8FKMY) today. It was at 11:15 am, and they informed me only at 9:20 am. I was taking my 60+ old parents to Kashmir for their anniversary. They travelled all the way from Rohtak, reached the airport on time, only to be told there’s no flight today. Their entire plan for the next 5 days is ruined.
When I tried to rebook for today, fares were already higher. And the moment I clicked “pay,” the price jumped another 40%.
So, I booked for tomorrow, but it cost way more than the SpiceJet tickets I paid for. SpiceJet says they’ll refund the cancelled flight but what about the extra money I had to pay? What about hotels refusing refunds for the lost day? What about the taxi costs and the stress my old parents had to go through?
Just for my own curiosity, I tried cancelling the Indigo flight I booked for tomorrow. Guess what? They wanted more than ₹5,000 per ticket as cancellation fee, just 10 minutes after booking.
All this in the name of “base fare” and “fuel surcharge.” Base fare they’ll recover anyway by selling the seat at a higher price to someone else. And fuel surcharge? Is fuel price fluctuating every single minute?
Airlines and apps happily charge “convenience fees,” but when they ruin your plans, there’s no inconvenience fee for passengers. No cancellation fees for passengers. Just a cold “write mail to us.” You may get a voucher from their airline.
The staff at the counter have no power, yet they’re the ones who face all the anger. The real decision-makers sit on annual packages worth crores, but don’t lift a finger when it comes to fixing anything real.
FYI: At European airports, airlines are required to give a full refund and pay up to £600 to passengers when they cancel a flight. Even if it’s an Indian airline operating there, the same rule applies. These airlines pay compensation there, even for a flight delay. But what about Indian Janta?
We’re not flying for free, we pay taxes on every single ticket we buy. GST, User development fees, airport charges and even for our security.
Anyway, DGCA rules say 24 hours’ notice is required before cancelling. Why was this ignored? Staff claimed “technical fault” in the plane, but I doubt it. I want SpiceJet to share how many seats were actually booked for this flight. Was the flight only 30-40% full and cancelled for that reason? I didn’t see many passengers stranded there.
These airlines keep sinking and government keeps negotiating. Aviation minister, where are you? Ministers fight for cabinet seats, they take one, enjoy the power and go, but ordinary people keep suffering because of government’s policies. At least one minister has to set an example.
I want answers. And I want real compensation, not just vouchers or empty apologies.

What a shameful menu! When there's so much diversity in vegetables & meat, all that's being served is aloo, tamatar, dal & spices galore. @LombaKitchen wl be happy to serve smoked pork bamboo shoot to the honourable president of Vietnam. Am sure there are many willing to do same
UAPA in Manipur. Arrest anyone, anytime, on 'reason to believe' that he may commit (future tense) or has committed a crime (just believe he did).
By Law. Legally. Constitutionally.
The increasing conflict between Kuki and Naga armed groups in the hills coupled with anger/protests in the Imphal valley by Meitei citizens and CSOs against killing of innocent children has left Delhi journalism of self-proclaimed right and liberal left so confused because the 'story' does not fit anymore into eithers' cognitive traps and/or agenda.
So, the headlines (when news cannot be avoided and must be reported) are now flattening the conflict to be just a case of killings without context.
The mainland India media and civil society's earlier reportage, explainers and reports etc were often so coloured by their own confirmation biases that they cared little about Manipur while using the people's plight as a platform for their politics.
Most of them now can be seen for what they were - bereft of any understanding. Often poisoned by bias and politics.
The blame lies with the leaders of the newsrooms and CSOs in these cases, not the reporters or the ordinary workers of CSOs. And with the Internet-driven need of newsrooms to report and write copious volumes while the 'topic' is 'hot'.
It's the role of editors and leaders to shape understanding, provide space and opportunity for younger colleagues to do better in rushed and complex work.
Media studies departments in India and abroad should study how mainland indian journalism of all hues largely failed and several tried to deflect attention by blaming the hapless hacks in Manipur, surviving direct threats to their and their loved ones lives, for bias.
I had the opportunity to often witness the sheer patronising arrogance that many such 'leaders' and others displayed during this phase. That was disappointing.
Also learnt how little it all mattered to people in Manipur or the how the powerful actors of all kinds acted. It does matter how rest of world will get to understand lives in Manipur if they were to only look at such bad reportage and journalism etc as the first draft of history.
Now, a Naga-Kuki clash in Senapati district during a United Naga Council shutdown called over the killings of 2 Naga civilians.
After the valley, which has seen waves of protests over the killings of 2 children, the hills of Manipur are erupting.
And a "popular" government at the state and the Centre that watches on, as the cycle of violence continues.
