Today, Thames21 has collaborated with its partners to launch a comprehensive five-year plan to restore the River Lea, its tributaries and surrounding ecosystems in north-east London.🧵⬇️

Out this morning assessing the impact of this pollution incident. The partnership are currently developing a project to improve fish passage along the Turkey Brook through removal of multiple weirs. We will be following up with the EA to push for action on this damaging event💔

We were alerted to a pollution incident on the Turkey Brook on Saturday where there were reports of dead and distressed fish.

Our specialist Environment Agency teams set up aerators to increase the oxygen to help save the remaining fish population.

April’s aquatic invert survey was a revelation. Yes, it’s great to find a caseless cadis but who knew fishes had a larval stage? Luckily we have a marine biologist amongst us who informed on this little speck of life in pic 2.
