On this day 25 years ago, Ronnie Moore’s Millers won back-back-promotions thanks to Alan Lee’s late winner against Brentford, the club returning to the second-tier for the first time in 18 years

An unforgettable moment for @RotherhamUnited in April 2001.
A dramatic late Alan Lee goal meant that the club had back to back promotions under the management of Ronnie Moore.

I think what's happening at Rotherham is a real shame.
Because Tony Stewart's legacy should be exclusively one of somebody who saved the club.
Somebody who oversaw five promotions as owner, and seven seasons of Championship football in a 10-year period.
Somebody who contributed significantly to one of the two most successful periods of the club's modern era.
Yet while there's still a degree of gratitude remaining for that in some quarters, realistically Stewart has undone a lot of that goodwill by not knowing when to cede control - be it operational, or stake-wise.
He's insisted on continuing with a limited, out-of-date and sentimentally contact-led strategic approach.
It's one thing doing that as a short-term measure while you look for people better-placed to take the club forward, but I think we can reasonably question how proactive he's been in trying to find those people.
Stewart needs to sell up this summer. Partly so that in time, his tenure can be remembered for the good times.
Partly because otherwise, the scale of the rebuild becomes bigger and bigger, and the journey back becomes longer and longer.

As I have said previously...down and out! It's the hope that kills you...but not sure what folk are expecting! Leopards do not change their spots, Millers don't improve! Poor season yet again...3 years of this and cheesed off. 😏
