I once believed friendship could rise above religious differences. For years, I chose silence, compromise, and understanding, thinking that mutual respect was enough.

But after 2014 I felt that my friend wanted different rules for me.She was allowed to criticise , demean & pass derogatory comments on my religion but if I questioned I was labelled as Communal & her fav was “ jab se yeh Modi aaya hai iska dimaag kharaab ho gaya hai”…..& i was met with anger, tears & warnings.
Our 14 years old friendship didn’t last as she enjoyed freedom to judge but not me. accepted those terms in the beginning. I do not accept them anymore.

Humse naa hoga. Your religion is not superior to my Dharm. Period!

We no longer speak, but I have learnt that true friendship demands equal respect, not selective tolerance.
