Some people seriously underestimate the value of the state pension. Last check it was c£250,000 to buy an annuity to match the nSP - feel free to comment if you have a current figure. People might not like that it's a contributory benefit but it's a very valuable one.
@markb1979@RoshaneSport She won’t do that unless she knows for sure that DK won’t exercise his pre-emption rights on a sale to buy another 5% to take a 51% stake. Otherwise she’d have ended up paying a premium for a minority holding.
@IcarusCRB@footballforfans@Lawton_Times Kretinsky is acquiring more than his share of the preemptions at the end of “round 1” they have to have come from Sullivan.
Anyway - if Sullivan tried to sell to Stavely the pre-emption would kick in again so Kretinsky has an effective first refusal.
@IcarusCRB@footballforfans@Lawton_Times Nothing to do with plc status. The trigger is in an agreement between Sullivan and Kretinsky. And given that Sullivan is selling a chunk of his pre-emption shares to Kretinsky there’s little chance of him selling to Stavely.
@footballforfans@Lawton_Times Problem for AS is that DK would be able to exercise pre-emption at any price AS agrees with DS, which would be much less than the amount he’d have had to pay if the DS buyout clause were triggered. DK will just sit and wait now.
@benjury75@WestHamViews_ Yup. Sullivan’s 40% is now worth a lot less as Kretinsky could hoover enough through his pre-emotion rights to take a majority holding.
@footballforfans@Lawton_Times He doesn’t want to own 50% at the moment because that would trigger an obligation to buy out Sullivan at a significant premium to today’s price. Who knows what he’d do if Sullivan would take a reduced price?
@footballforfans@Lawton_Times No. The pre-emption rights are in the shareholders’ agreement - effectively the company’s constitution. They’re very common in private companies.
@CraigSkellorn@henrywinter@bluesofgoodison The decline was due to the recruitment in the summer after he left. I’d have kept Moyes. But having let him go the club picked a manager with a completely different style who couldn’t work with the squad. And then Potter. Relegation was the board’s fault.
@CraigSkellorn@henrywinter@bluesofgoodison Nah. I have a season ticket so I’ve watched all those games. We were doing well in the league that season until Christmas. But without Rice and with injuries we were spread too thinly to compete in league and Europe. He made the right choice.
