Always a highlight of Convention, our second day of #NCTE23 is going strong with the official opening of our Exhibit Hall. The space has been consistently buzzing with author signings and giveaways to complement another day of inspiring programming!
@heymrsbond I plan on doing this soup/salad/sandwich activity and then rolling it into CER writing: https://t.co/IE7BDorWfb
I start each day with a check in: https://t.co/trwjx8D3IG
Students each complete an identity slide. Here is mine:
@heymrsbond I do one called conversation dice. Ss have a die & they pair up. S roll their die. They match the number to a list of topics on the board. Then they talk for 30s. New list goes up, find a new partner and repeat.
@heymrsbond I used these name tents for the first week of school and really got to know my students. It takes time, but I felt like it was well worth it. https://t.co/XKmdoCQaQ6
@heymrsbond My go-to for the last 9 years. Always a hit!
5-6 quart plastic bags (1 set/classroom)
- 12 dry pasta “sticks”
- 8 small marshmallows
- 2 large MM
RULES
5min to create the tallest tower in the room. ONLY USING PASTA & MM. Tower HAS to be standing when timer goes off!
@heymrsbond At our training today, we played an awesome game with photos on our phones. The facilitator says a word like inspiration and then you have 30s to 1 min to find an image from the summer that went with the word. Each person explains image and connection.
@heymrsbond I gave them paper plates and art supplies. We talked about the “too much on my plate” idiom and then they designed the plates to reflect what was on their plates. Got some really good information from all of them.
