London based engaged couple suffering #longhaulcovid#longCovid since Feb 2020. Daily persistent symptoms leaving us unable to leave the house / work. Early 30s
@TalyaVarga We’re an enagaged couple from London- ill since February. Lost our jobs, had to leave London. Endless symtoms. No end in sight. Living hell.
In @long_covid we see women, including GPs, presenting with cardiac symptoms being asked if they are stressed? Or menopausal? Or depressed? Or anxious? Some of which would be entirely predicatable consequences of ongoing #LongCovid symptoms... or being gas lit by male doctors
Up to half a million survivors of coronavirus with crippling long-term symptoms may be the latest victims of government bungling - despite Matt Hancock saying it's "an incredibly important area”. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories with me https://t.co/YKNXuANUac
@NatalieJLambert@angie_roo2 We’re in limbo. We couldnt get a test when we got sick in February. When we could finally get a test at the end of June it came back negative. 7 months on, everything in our lives has changed. Disbelieved by GP, friends & some family members. Count #LongCovid
@Dr2NisreenAlwan Chronic headaches, feeling like someone is sitting on your chest, dizziness, brain fog, inability to concentrate. It’s taken away everything from our lives as we knew it.
I just had a Covid denier bravely comment ignorance at me & then immediately block me. I wonder what the Tsunami of cognitive disturbance will do to him, when C19 reality catches up with him & his beliefs are proven false.
Researching a newspaper piece on #LongCovid and would like to hear from people in 20s-40s (UK) still experiencing v.bad symptoms months after being infected. If this is you and you might be happy to share your experience do email (in bio) or DM #covidlonghaulers#LongHaulers
Has anyone out there had more luck than we’ve had with their DR? Any access to an MRI or specialist? We have chronic fatigue, chest pains, foggyness, chronic headaches, chills over 6 since months from the onset of symtoms. Unable to get referred anywhere. Feel so lost.
@lagresti The disbelief we’re facing from doctors is intensely frustrating. We didn’t have the symtpoms that were first recognised so didnt tick the right boxes for help.
@lagresti We’re in the same boat Lauren :( some reassurance that we’re not alone. We got ill in mid and late february respectively. So sorry for what you’re going through.
We need to get the message out especially to young healthy people. #COVID19 infection is unlikely to get u admitted to hospital but there’s a fair chance (estimates 1 in 10 to 1 in 3) it will cause u prolonged symptoms affecting your daily activities for months.

Months after infection with SARS-CoV-2, some people are still battling crushing fatigue, lung damage and other symptoms of ‘long COVID’. https://t.co/axSpGtJt2N
@long_covid@CDCgov Fiance and I have been ill since our engagement party in Feb & despite 3 A&E vists, we were never tested. We’re early 30s, were fit/ healthy & now both lost our jobs, still ill over 6 months on. There seems to be no help available for people like us- only disbelief & dismissal.
This @DavidLat piece outlines how many other long-covid patients feel:
"Recovering from a severe case of COVID-19 is not like switching a light on or off. It’s more like a dimmer switch, where the light gets brighter, then darker, then brighter again."

We know what viruses can do to the immune system long-term. And we know that other coronaviruses have left survivors with similar symptoms.
So why are covid long-haulers having such a hard time being taking seriously?
Up to 1 in 10 people with #COVID19 report symptoms lasting weeks, often much longer.
Exhaustion, breathing & sleep problems, cough & mood changes are almost universal.
8 in 10 with #LongCovid were NOT those with most severe acute illness.
We need to take this seriously - now.
We’re living in a daily hell. Chronic chest pain, headaches, extreme fatigue since end of Feb. Finally able to get tested in June, over 3 months after initial symptoms & test was negative so we cannot apply for any research programs. GP dismissing symptoms as anxiety. #LongCovid
They never officially had Covid-19. Months later they’re living in hell
Thanks @mattsreynolds1 for this comprehensive portrayal of long haulers and the issues they face
