What an amazing show yesterday! The class was still talking about it today. The cast and crew were exceptional. Thank you to Ms Russell, @mmerusso04 , Ms Reed & @MelissaTemi for all the hard work in bring this play together. You helped develop some core memories for many kids.
Our new words are focusing on the ‘oo’ sounds. We talk about using our knowledge of how to read and spell one word to help us read and spell many other words. We need to be flexible because not all words with the same sound follow the same spelling pattern.
We had a workshop from the Ottawa Children’s Theatre. We played some fun games that taught us how to use our facial expressions, voice and body to communicate.
We used snap cubes to measure items around the classroom of different lengths. We know to line up them up to the edge of the item being measured and to make sure they don’t overlap or have any gaps. We then made towers that were longer and shorter than our knee.
We are working on measurement. We started with the words used when comparing (bigger, smaller) and on length (longer/shorter. We loved reading the clues one at a time to figure out the length of each colour & put them in order. Lots of fun while learning!
Last Chance! 🌼 Order your beautiful Pansy Planter by Wednesday March 19th - for pickup on Tuesday, April 15th. This thoughtful gift is perfect for brightening up any space, and its arrival just in time for Easter makes it an extra-special treat! 🐰
STRUCTURES: We had some good discussions about the main function of some structures. We had so much fun making and testing structures that can support, contain and span a gap!
We ❤️ reading sentences that practice the new concept we are working on (compound words).
We also ❤️ to spot many concepts that we’ve already learned (magic e, diagraphs, ng, 3 sounds of y, blends, lazy u, just to name a few!)
WOW, a great afternoon at our winter play day. THANK YOU to @MrsCleasby, Mme Lantanzio & any other staff for organizing this big event for our school. A huge shout out to our amazing grade 6’s that were team leaders & ran the stations. Also, thank you to our parent volunteers!
