The whole world went crazy for a little while, arguably a decade, and the real political, social, cultural divide today is between people who want to have a reckoning with that, now that we all have snapped out of it, and those who want to pretend nothing ever happened, because they can't or won't have the reckoning with themselves and confront all the ways in which they played along with the emperors new clothes, and the embarrassing, cowardly or otherwise ego threatening things they did in the culture war
@LanceVader@nathancofnas One friend, well known for being the most gorgeous girl in class, hung out with me sometimes, but told me she particularly disliked my poop jokes. 😞 In retrospect, I think I actually had a shot with her, but no clue how to take advantage of it.
@LanceVader@nathancofnas Yes. Caused me so much confusion growing up with no sisters. I treated my female friends like men, like I thought I was supposed to, and they didn't seem very happy about it.
@ArchLuminous@AbuCortex @exalt_emily I appreciate your proper use of the word, but a good number of us have been called out on it for simply being a man and saying something
@thecaptain_nemo Depravity/immortality isn't exclusively sexual. It also touches on the civic virtues and the glue that holds societies together. So, yes.
American blacks would have loved rural farming their own land and we really screwed up by not making that happen post-civil war is my offensively-framed, progressive opinion.
@GeoChonker @goof_iest What's the deal with ex-Mormon posts constantly swinging at broad Christianity rather than their own, nutso version? I have friends who do this.
@QuetzalPhoenix I've tried most brewing methods and bean quality and freshness trump any of them. I.e. they're all good, if you do them right and work with quality ingredients.
@AndyMasley@Duderichy Sure, it's fine to right a few articles like this because of all the pro-marriage and family content they post.
Oh, that's right: they don't.
@byowife@_lizharvey One of my favorite meals ever was up in a remote miao village in the mountains with few ingredients, but fresh and expertly prepared.
@byowife@_lizharvey Related now, but not inherently. My point is simply that I've been in too many secluded places around the world with amazing foods to see 'seclusion' as the main problem. This is a matter of interest for me though. I'm not interested in 'lol points' and performance.
