I was 19, I left home to travel cross country to knock on doors & bear testimony of my faith. For two years I had my faith challenged, & spat on, personly assaulted, insulted, & ridiculed. It forced me to study, know and understand my faith. This gave me power to face the world
"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend" - king Benjamin

Because it require admitting the fallacy of sola scriptura in that the heavens are not closed and God still talks to man and he can still reveal more. it destroys the trinity because God could then be moved upon. It destroys there claim to authority because accepting ongoing revelation means that prophets are still called. it is the fear of confronting the idea that most everything you thought you knew about God was wrong
