An MP can say in Westminster what an MSP cannot safely say in Holyrood.
That should trouble every democrat.
Please read my article in today's @ScotExpress
Parliamentary privilege is not a perk or a licence for reckless claims. It is a safeguard for democracy, used responsibly, so Parliament can test power without members being silenced by fear of legal action.
The Salmond inquiry showed the danger: documents delayed, evidence constrained, and MSPs limited in what they could say, publish and put to witnesses.
That weakened Parliament and protected the Executive.
Holyrood was created to hold government to account, not shield it. If Scotland is to have a truly fearless Parliament, MSPs need Article 9-style protection too.

The SNP spent years insisting Yes Scotland was a separate organisation.
Now one of the campaign's own senior figures says the SNP tightly controlled the finances through Peter Murrell.
How many more myths have to collapse before we get a full independent investigation?

Instead of complaining about the pension age, maybe Lara the Loudmouth should be asking why Scotland has the worst life expectancy rate in Europe after 19 years of SNP rule.
🚨 Remember when Sturgeon’s lawyer and Humza threatened to sue the richest man in the world? #Frankly, with BrassNic, any defamation threats against those calling her a liar are on even shakier ground. Keep digging, Nicola. The receipts are piling up. ⏰ #BrassNic#TickTock
We are already seeing the left in Glasgow and else where in Scotland 🏴 protest the removal of Sex Offenders.
So of course Zac wants keep the leader of one of the grooming gangs in the UK.
No one is will be shocked by this.
The Master’s Chair, dated to a hundred years or so after Bede. What a stunning thing, over a thousand years old. Covered in graffiti. St Paul’s church, Jarrow.
Taxpayers paid Peter Murrell’s legal aid. Now they’re being told they have no right to know why.
That is disgraceful.
Murrell stole £400,000 from the SNP, had access to major assets, and is apparently able to repay what he took — yet the public still funded his defence.
The decision is now shrouded in secrecy, reinforcing the belief that there is one rule for the SNP and another for everyone else.
This whole scandal needs a full public inquiry. https://t.co/8JUnLOm8fF
Best scene you will watch today.
A scene from movie Citizen Vigilante that was released last month.
Hammer plays an expat who turns vigilante against Islamic immigrant rapists.
It has become rare to show Islamist terrorists as villains in Hollywood movies.
How many of you haven’t watched this movie yet?
‘Wings Over Scotland has challenged Nicola Sturgeon and her solicitor Aamer Anwar to sue him after he repeated [David Davis’s] accusations in full - without the defence of parliamentary privilege’
