Optimist. Human rights activist. Tea enthusiast. Do-er: Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. - Dr. Seuss
@WhidbeyWXGuy Is this today/right now?!
In south seattle and it’s sunny. Have a friend who had a cancelled flight yesterday and is supposed to fly from PAE at 2pm today. I’m shocked to see this! Wondering if there will be flight delays at PAE today 😩😩😩
Rainier Beach - The recent, heartbreaking loss of two young lives near Rainier Beach High School has left the South Seattle community in a state of profound grief and search for answers. As we mourn the teenagers who were killed just steps from their school, we are forced to confront a painful reality: the students have been telling us they were afraid for years.
This Rainier Beach town hall story from January 2023 serves as a chilling foreshadowing of the current tragedy. In it, we see students and graduates sharing their daily anxieties—from the fear of walking to lunch to the necessity of "ducking" if a car speeds by too quickly.
As we collectively process this loss, we must move beyond performative talk. What is being done right now by the City of Seattle, King County, School Board, and our community to ensure our children can walk to a bus stop without fearing for their lives? It is time to listen to the youth who have already provided the roadmap for their own safety.
Neighbors just released a new angle of the ICE shooting and it settles any debate on what actually happened.
This was a mother doing something completely ordinary: Dropping somebody off, then trying to leave. She goes to pull out, stops for one car to pass, then waves the agents to drive past. Within seconds, those ICE agents exit their vehicle and rush her, shouting and escalating the situation. Panicked, she tries to drive away and gets shot in the face three times.
She posed no threat, showed no intent to harm, and was interfering with no one. She was a civilian going about her life. The official statements that followed contradict the footage and read like an attempt to rewrite what happened.
This was a reckless, unjustified killing, followed by a dishonest effort to evade responsibility. It’s horrifying, and it exposes something deeply wrong with the US government and these ICE agents. They must be held accountable.
This is not a partisan issue. I need you to lock in gang.
Thanks, Zohran. I’m proud to be in the fight with you for a democracy on the terms of working people: affordability, housing, safety, and more. From NYC to Seattle: this is your city. #thisisyourcity

The world is at a crossroads. With millions of lives on the line, we must choose to act.
The @gatesfoundation is committing $912 million to the @GlobalFund to help save millions of lives from HIV, TB and malaria and protect decades of global health progress. Since 2002, the Global Fund has helped cut the death rate from HIV, TB, and malaria by 63% in supported countries. That’s 70 million lives saved—and millions more at stake.
The Global Fund is one of the most effective ways to deliver the impact we need at scale, keeping children, parents and their communities safe from these diseases while supporting economies and our collective global health security.
The cost of inaction is too high, and the opportunity ahead is unmistakable.
Tune in Monday, September 22nd for this year’s #Goalkeepers2030 event where changemakers will come together to discuss how we can build a world where the deadliest childhood diseases become ancient history.

What we decide today will shape the world our children—and their children—inherit.
@BillGates’s new @TIME op-ed is a call to action and a reminder that global leaders have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect the progress we’ve made in child health, and save millions of lives.
Since 2000, the world has done something extraordinary—reduced the number of children who died before their 5th birthday from 10 million to less than 5 million. And if we increase or sustain investments in global health, we can cut that number in half again over the next 20 years.
As Bill writes, humanity is at a crossroads. The path forward is ours to choose.

The 2025 Goalkeepers event is just around the corner. Each year, Goalkeepers unites changemakers who are committed to advancing the Global Goals. This year’s theme, “We Can’t Stop at Almost,” emphasizes how far the world has come in combating deadly childhood diseases and the importance of staying on track to save children's lives.
I can’t wait to hear powerful stories from inspiring leaders like @BillGates, Pastor @RickWarren, and other champions in this space. You can watch live on Monday, September 22, at 6 p.m. EDT: https://t.co/EpghvNq8Vf.

Mifepristone is safe and effective. There is no good reason for @Costco to refuse to sell this medication.
I am demanding that Costco immediately reverse course—follow the science and the facts, not the demands of far-right anti-abortion extremists.
Big thank you to Gov @GavinNewsom for separating himself and meeting the moment by being forceful, strong and compelling.
Now’s not the time to speak in muted, measured tones.
He’s doing a heck of a job.
As we celebrate 25 years of progress at the @GatesFoundation, we’re also facing some of the toughest global health challenges in decades. In my recent conversation with @Devex President and Editor-in-Chief @Raj_Devex, I spoke about how we’re applying what we’ve learned to drive faster, more focused impact in our next chapter. Watch the clip:
You know how people called women hysterical for predicting the right wing would take down Roe v. Wade (which they've done) and then attack access to birth control (which they're doing)? Hear me when I say that women's very right to vote is next.
