if me being the best & happiest version of myself makes you uncomfortable or unhappy or makes you feel like i’ve changed or i’m different, i won’t apologize for it, but i will remove myself from you. no more feeling bad for being too happy or finding myself & being my best me.
I want my daughters to live long lives of leisure. If they find something they love to do and want to do for work, great, but otherwise I want them to have the choice to dilly dally…..forever.
hannah montana is honestly such a bizarre show when you remember what it’s actually about. the whole premise is that a child needs to be protected from the machinery of fame, exploitation, and constant public attention. miley gets to have a normal teenage life because her dad creates this secret identity and keeps her away from the worst parts of celebrity culture. meanwhile, outside the show, the actress playing her was an actual child being launched into the disney machine. so you’re watching a fictional father protect his daughter from the exact industry that was simultaneously making a real child into a product. and the funniest part is that fictional robby ray is somehow the more responsible parent. even the name thing is wild: her fictional dad uses a different name, while miley uses her real one. like he at least got a tiny layer of separation from the character. she didn’t.
