STRONG WORDS

At first the developers wanted the track to co-exist with their proposed development. That’s not true anymore. The future of @GPSspeedway1 is very very uncertain. Redevelopment looms.

[Lost Speedways @LostSpeedways]

The good fight…

[Matthew Dillner @MatthewDillner]

Already a big turnout at Pickens, SC City Council Meeting. Many here to help Save the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Local news. Let’s go! @GPSspeedway1

[Lost Speedways @LostSpeedways]

Intriguing. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

[FloRacing @FloRacing]

🧱 @matt_tifft sat down with @MatthewDillner for a candid conversation about his vision for resurrecting Mansfield Speedway and putting it back on the racing map! 👇 https://t.co/5Kq5HeeDb8

[Dale Earnhardt Jr. @DaleJr]

Took off from Cordele Georgia after visiting to sign some autographs in support of our @zMAXFormula @CARSTour event this weekend and got a shot of the old Middle Georgia Raceway. @LostSpeedways @MatthewDillner @DirtyMoMedia

This is awful hard to see.

The grandstands at Irwindale Speedway have come down.

It’s officially over for my home track.

End of an era.
The West Coast racing scene has suffered a giant loss.
The winds of change are blowing hard on the sport. Cherish these places before they are gone.

[Ryan Vargas @RyanVargas_23]

The clock strikes midnight, the final ever fireworks show has started.

Irwindale Speedway has officially, hosted its final ever racing event.

[Lost Speedways @LostSpeedways]

😔Dirt is moving.
All in the name of what they call “progress.”

“While developers claim South Carolina needs more housing, retail & warehouses, racetracks like Myrtle Beach & Greenville Pickens fall victim. Which one is next?“ @MatthewDillner

🗣️
Stage one is said to not effect the footprint of the speedway.

(Opinion) However, we learned when attending the zoning meeting that the plan includes a drive path that cuts across the land. Tactical. It’s beginning. - Matthew. https://t.co/rBrPrd6VNY

[Matthew Dillner @MatthewDillner]

UPDATE THREAD @GPSspeedway1 Pickens County zoning public hearing:

Well attended by racing community.
A small victory. Land sale not complete. Re-Zoning for a section of land (phase 1 - Manufacturing buildings) was passed w/ an amendment to not touch the track.

However….

[Lost Speedways @LostSpeedways]

Hey…
Show up.
@GPSspeedway1 needs us.

Don’t let a historic track become warehouses without letting your voices be heard.

[Lost Speedways @LostSpeedways]

Awful. Almost made a return but the pandemic eliminated the comeback race. It was so close.

For the folks that ask me what is going on with Gresham Motorsports Park. I stopped by after lunch today.

It’s now a Copart Junkyard 😢

Sportsman car driven by Floyd Powell. In 1961 this became the first car to go to Victory Lane at Augusta Speedway (the dirt 1/2-mile) which was constructed prior to the road course.

[Bobby Markos @BobbyMarkos]

Had the chance to speak with @GregoryAdamsBC about @Myndfuneral and @LostSpeedways and how they coincide in my life. Love anytime I can bring music and auto racing together. I also love that I can talk about @DaleJr and @dronecoma in the same interview

Hinchliffe Stadium, best know as a Negro League Baseball Stadium, was also the epicenter (Paterson, NJ) of the east coast’s Midget Car Racing boom. It was featured in season one of #LostSpeedways w/ @DaleJr on @peacockTV
Fantastic to hear it is getting the attention it deserves.

[Front Office Sports @FOS]

MLB analyst and former All-Star Harold Reynolds is pushing for a “Field of Dreams”-style game at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey.

Hinchliffe is one of the last-standing Negro League ballparks.

The 10,000-seat stadium is undergoing a $94 million renovation project.

The war that nearly ended the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Most people don’t realize it was nearly a Lost Speedway. The images are haunting.
