@supertanskiii The Sun and The Daily/Sunday Sport both guilty of doing that. It only serves to highlight the disparity between the age of consent and legally being considered an adult. The opportunity for exploitation is too readily available.
@cix_stormrage Request a call with the Exams Officer at the school, and ask for a request for special consideration to be submitted (you can write a letter to support). Iβd also ask them to confirm the exam boards for all exams still to be sat. Also raise this as a concern with the head.
@annesmithmcc@martinimarie Brace yourself because it gets worse at GCSE. Dyslexic daughter processing at half the speed of peers so entitled to a reader, not allowed to use this accommodation in Eng Lang exams where they analyse large chunks of text/prose.
@NeilForPoole@DrBenSpencer please sign on to this motion, young people with disabilities are being penalised for something beyond their control at a point when they need support.
@SwailesRuth I work compressed hours on a 9 day fortnight in local government. 8 hour days, and it allows me to manage the life admin that comes with 2 neurodiverse kids. Everyone in our team works a flex pattern, and if anything we put in more hours than weβre contracted for.
@areyoflight And on the flip side, how many times is the phone assessment format abused by the DWP to deny a claim? Weβve witnessed it first hand with assessors who donβt understand fluctuating conditions or hidden disabilities, who then lie about what theyβve βobservedβ.
@TheCinesthetic My aunt & uncle took me to see that in the cinema, and I spent half of the film hiding in the toilets or crouched down behind the row of seats in front of us. Still canβt watch and Iβm in my late 40s! π«£π€£
Hugely frustrating that @marksandspencer donβt allow you to apply for more than one retail role in a 6 month period. 18yo daughter is desperate for work, applied to Guildford and rejected, and now canβt apply to our local branch.
This! This is my SEN-betweener, and because of the mental health needs, the academic attainment is slipping, which is causing further impact to mental health. Itβs a constant fire fight for appropriate support even with an EHCP!
I am not hearing from the government today any understanding of the fact that for some children on the autism spectrum...high ability but with complex mental health needs...a mainstream school environment is never going to be a suitable learning environment for them.

@sincil0@martinimarie They know Iβm like a dog with a bone, and I have a child that is brutally honest about what they are and arenβt doing to support her. Most of the time sheβs not in class, she self guiding herself through the work for the lesson she should be in.
@starmerstie Definitely not for fluctuating neurodivergent conditions. We also had an issue with them not notifying us of the date of the assessment, and he tried to downplay the purpose of the call - said he needed to check a few details, and blocked her from having her dad on the call.
@starmerstie Thanks, reckoned she could make complex travel plans because she got the bus to college (bus stop at the end of our road, and drop at college gates almost). And because she was doing performing arts, she had no social needs. Assessor was a physio. Utter joke.
@martinimarie For me the phrase βinclusion areaβ is incompatible with the intended spirit of inclusion. The point of inclusion is to make the whole school accessible to a child with additional needs.
