Then imagine waking up to see your immediate elder colleagues on twitter tagging you as lazy.
This is one to the problems I have with the healthcare system.
Gross lack of empathy from your seniors.
Back then in housejob, I often worked way beyond my work duties.
Many times I work beyond 4pm and go home late in the night so as to offer extra hands, assist with post round and the likes.
My seniors will see all this and keep mute. They won't even acknowledge you.
They'd not say anything because after all you're getting paid and they are overworked too.
However, if you mistakenly call ahead that you're sick or come late once or twice, you'd see them flaring their nose and start calling you lazy and unserious.
Some will even say why didn't you treat yourself early.
At some point when I was asked a question during my pediatrics 48hrs calls, I asked the reg when I was supposed to read when I barely have time to sit down.
I see no hope for this profession in this country as long as we keep shunning empathy as we're moving up the ladder.

I'm going to say the quiet part out loud. A lot of newly graduated doctors are incredibly lazy. They hide it under the 'I can't kill myself' mentality, but it's honestly just laziness.

There are HOs I did HJ with that I never want to work with again. Show up late. Ghost calls. Won’t do post rounds. Won’t do IPR. Don’t know jack about patients.

As a single lady, many people saw me as too strict because I would never let them touch me carelessly, call me names like hot, sweet or sexy and I set boundaries.

I left conversations that I wasn’t comfortable with and I was ready to call you out when you begin to speak carelessly, but…

I was not always like that. I went through seasons where I was scared of standing up for my faith, I was scared to lose friends, I was lukewarm in my walk with Jesus, let’s say in the middle. Lol.

Everything changed when I realized that claiming to be a child of God has to be in full. It’s not part time. You cannot say you love Jesus and accommodate sin. You cannot smile at what is unholy.

Then I stepped up, stood for purity, worked on my association and kept following God. It wasn’t easy when I lost friends, I was ignored and laughed at but I felt peace knowing who I am in Christ.

If Christ died for you, do not be ashamed of Him. Do not be ashamed to stand up to the word of God and if you ever feel like you are falling off, go back on your knees. Jesus is always there to help you up💕

Normally, a working healthcare system will pick these challenges, quickly abolish 72hours call, stop that rubbish of doctors who were at work the previous day continuing work the next day after a call but you can trust this will pass also like any other deaths and everybody moves
