Period! No Apologies.
A girl/woman spends more than 10 years of her life menstruating. Yet for far too long, society has met this natural experience with shame instead of support.
Through Her Lens, @PatriciaPeaceE, an alumna of the Menstrual Justice Academy, is advocating for a change to this story. @LawbotAfrica
For the girl who missed school because of her period.
For the woman who learned to whisper the word period.
For everyone who deserves to menstruate with dignity, without fear or stigma.
It's time to end the silence. Period! No apologies.

Too often, menstrual pain is normalised, and endured in silence, brushed aside instead of taken seriously.
Severe menstrual pain is not something to ignore. It deserves attention, care, and understanding in schools, workplaces, and communities
It’s time to move beyond dismissal and create spaces where pain is acknowledged, support is accessible, and no one has to suffer in silence. @FJS

Under the Menstrual Justice Project, we are challenging deeply rooted myths and misconceptions about menstrual health and hygiene.
For generations, women and girls have been told their bodies are “unclean” during menstruation, a harmful belief that creates shame, fuels stigma, and limits participation in daily life and school.
Let’s normalize facts, not fear. @FJS

Climate action grows stronger with guidance!
Through our youth climate mentorship program, young environmental defenders have gained the support they need to:
✅Lead local conservation and restoration projects .
✅Advocate for stronger environmental policies and protections.
✅Make informed decisions that safeguard ecosystems and communities.
✅Share skills and inspire the next generation of defenders.
✅Build lasting movements that protect both nature and people.
Mentorship isn’t just teaching, it empowers defenders to act, lead, and create real change for the environment.

Uganda has the potential to lead in clean energy. Over 95% of our electricity comes from renewable sources, yet millions still lack access to power. With increased investment in renewables, we can strengthen our economy, empower young people, and combat climate change together.

FIDA-Uganda took part in a Uganda Law Reform Commission validation meeting for simplified guides on adoption, guardianship, custody, and child maintenance. 📚 The session reviewed the draft adoption guide, including the governing laws, types of adoption, and conditions required before an adoption order is granted. FIDA-Uganda emphasized the obligations and responsibilities of both prospective and adoptive parents. We will also support the validation of the custody and maintenance guides, which align with our core work in providing legal aid to vulnerable clients. The finalized guides will be available in our clinic. 🤝
This initiative comes during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a period that highlights the need to protect children, empower families, and ensure legal systems work for those most affected by inequality and vulnerability. Strengthening these guides is part of our commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and promoting justice. 🧡
We are thrilled to see more young people actively engaging in renewable energy advocacy, driving a just energy transition in Uganda.
A big thank you to all youth taking part in these crucial discussions!
