#PostOfficeScandal Today on @GMB Sir Alan Bates speaks to @susannareid100 about the ongoing suffering SubPostmasters and their families are going through due to a failure by @PostOffice and @biztradegovuk to put things right.

The Department again tries to put a spin on the GLO scheme figures by saying 80% of those claimants have received full and final redress OR been paid 80% of their offer. The truth is over 150 of those were for the Fixed Sum Award of £75,000. So that leaves roughly 100 cases which have been settled. They fail to mention that receiving 80% of the offer is meaningless if the offer is so terrible. If people started off where Sir Alan did with 16% of his offer, or myself on 12.5% of the offer, they will have only received 80% of that derisory offer and now government are including those figures in their narrative.

Lets say a claim was for £500,000. They are offered 15% of that as an offer which is £75,000, that claimant will have received 80% of that amount i.e. £60,000. I wouldn’t call that ‘substantial redress’ would you?
