I’m SICK of saying it, but I’ll say it again. Asylum seekers can’t claim benefits. You need an NI number to do that. Asylum seekers aren’t staying in 5* hotels. Asylum seekers get £49.18p a week to live on. Could YOU live on that? NOPE. So stop pretending they’re living it large.

I have been an inpatient here at @LHCHFT for just over two weeks now. I try to leave the ward every day for an hour or two. I head over to the beautiful community garden on campus. The lovely weather we are having means I can sit in the sunshine and read. A peaceful sanctuary.
Imagine heart surgery without cracking open the chest.
Sounds impossible, right?
But in 2002, Dr. Alain Cribier made it a reality with transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
This procedure has saved the lives of patients previously deemed too weak to survive.🧵
We're thrilled that @AlderHeyInnov's Little Hearts at Home (LHAH) platform has been selected as 1 of 4 projects across the UK to receive funding from the British Heart Foundation as part of the BHF’s Health Care Innovation Awards 🙌

If you ask me she doesn’t look like she just had a major heart surgery on Tuesday. She is doing extremely well. They did a diaphragm ultrasound and the left side that was damaged during her heart surgery last year now has movement. Along with lowering her vent settings to essentially the lowest they can go, they decided to trial her off the ventilator for 15min to start out and she handled it well. Her pulmonologist is really excited about that and is confident she can heads towards getting off the vent completely and decannulation in the future. She has already been taken off 3 of her heart failure and pulmonary hypertension meds because she has shown she doesn’t need them anymore. We were told this surgery would be life changing for her but we didn’t expect to see such a dramatic change in her so soon. For the first time I feel like she has a really good shot at a really good life and I couldn’t be more proud to be her mom ♥️
Saw this in the BMj obituaries today. Not someone I have met but what an amazing and inspirational story. Achieved so much despite much adversity. Truly remarkable. RIP Allison.
