100M agent transactions on Base now. Everyone's calling it a milestone. But a lot of that early volume was just pay-to-mint hype, not real usage.

Funny thing is the tech is already there. x402 plus MCP works fine. So the question was never "can agents pay". It's what they'll pay for a second time.

Per call pricing changes how you build. Nobody pays twice for something useless, so it forces you to be honest. Agents are brutal QA too, way harsher than people. And paying in stablecoins only makes sense if the action is actually worth something.

The agent economy isn't won on transaction count. It's won by whoever gives agents a reason to come back and pay again. Value over volume.
