Each year, Edmonton’s Newcomer Centre supports over 10,000 newcomers as they learn English, find employment and build community connections. I was pleased to join them Thursday to recognize their remarkable 45-year legacy of success.
I was thrilled to join the thousands of fans at last night’s Canada–Uzbekistan soccer match. With the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the game was a showcase of competition, friendship and national pride. Thanks to @ExploreEdmonton & @CanadaSoccerEN for a wonderful experience.
I was so proud to preside over the Investiture and Awards Ceremony of the Order of St. John last Friday at Government House. More than 30 Albertans were recognized for their lifesaving work—and I was deeply moved by the humility they each displayed as they accepted their honours.
I encourage anyone in Edmonton to visit “Where We Came From (and where we go from here),” a beautiful, immersive art exhibit about the Vietnamese immigrant experience, before it closes on June 6. It truly feels like stepping into history. Details here: https://t.co/OsyQqpl1Kc
Congratulations to the Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities on the success of their first “Compassion in Action” Blood Drive. As the wife of a doctor, I know the gratitude physicians and hospitals feel towards blood donors. #CanadasLifeline

Alberta is also home to a large and dynamic Portuguese-Canadian population. A host of events are planned in honour of Portuguese Heritage Month… If you attend any, I recommend sampling a few delicious Pastéis de Nata along the way! /3
June is the official “Heritage Month” for several ethnic groups in Alberta. For example, Alberta was the first province to designate June as Filipino Heritage Month, and already it has become one of the most vibrant events on the calendar. /1
June is also a special Heritage Month for the roughly 100,000 people of Italian descent living in Alberta. I had the opportunity last year to speak with Italian Ambassador Alessandro Cattaneo and tell him how important a role Italians have played in Alberta’s rise. /2
The School at the Legislature program has allowed me to share my story with countless bright and curious young people and answer their questions about Alberta's government. Last Friday, I spoke with another engaged group of students, this one from Mary Hanley Catholic Elementary.
The Edmonton Consular Corps plays a vital role in upholding Canada's reputation around the world and maintaining goodwill with our friends and allies. I had a chance to thank them for their work last Saturday at the ECC Ball.
June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of LGBTQ2S+ Albertans, and thank the queer community’s leaders for their brave advocacy work. Happy Pride to one and all!
The St. Albert-based 533 Sabre Squadron of Air Cadets celebrated their 75th anniversary last week. Their "Tradition of Excellence" was on full display as I conducted a full inspection of the troops on parade and assisted in presenting the Lord Strathcona Medal.
National Indigenous History Month begins today. As Lieutenant Governor, I have done my best to absorb the stories and wisdom of Indigenous chiefs, Elders and young people, and to walk the path of “reconciliACTION.” I thank all of them for their patience and trust.
It was a pleasure to welcome the Alberta Study Tour group of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. Their thoughtful discussions and commitment to leadership, service, & understanding the diverse experiences that shape our country will not be forgotten.
On Saturday I was pleased to attend the annual Grand Highland Military Ball, a celebration of the proud legacy of the Calgary Highlanders. I always enjoy the lively traditions at this event: the Grand March, singing The Glenwhorple and, of course, serving the haggis.
I was delighted to host a milestone dinner celebrating 100 years of The Royal Canadian Legion & its enduring service to veterans, military families, & communities across Alberta. Thank you to all who have served (& continue to serve) our country with courage and dedication. 🇨🇦
DYK that the Edmonton Food Bank is marking 45 years of service to members of our communities during their times of need. Thank you to CEO Marjorie Bencz, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and supporters @yegfoodbank. Congratulations to the Janet Hughes Awards recipients.
My sincere gratitude to artist Khaled Safi for his beautiful artwork in sand of the Crested Crane, the national bird of Uganda, where I was born and grew up. Thanks to all educators in the province for encouraging and empowering our future generations.
Thank you to the EPSB and the Phoenix Society for organizing Diversity Day with students from many high schools. The theme for 2026--One Vision, Many Voices, Students Unmuted--is very appropriate and inspiring.
