Only when you drive the Cybertruck do you realize how incredible it is: a bulletproof tank that moves like a million dollar sports car!
Reason for the angular shape is that the thick, ultra-hard stainless steel body panels cannot be stamped like the thin, feeble, paper-strength mild steel of other trucks. Cybertruck body panels would break 5000 ton stamping machines.
There are a few new pieces of info from @Tesla in the last 24 hours that I think are worth highlighting:
1) Tesla ended last quarter with the highest Q1 order backlog in over two years.
2) Tesla now has 456,000 active monthly FSD subscribers, generating over $45M/month in revenue.
3) Tesla's fleet is now driving an average of 28.8 million miles per day on FSD, up 100% from just 3 months ago.
4) Tesla is increasing Model Y production at Giga Berlin by 20% starting in July, and hiring 1,000 new employees.
5) Tesla has entered into an agreement to acquire an AI hardware company for up to $2B, of which ~$1.8B is subject to certain service conditions and/or performance milestones dependent on the successful deployment of the company's tech. Tesla didn't say in its 10-Q filing which company this is.
6) Tesla is going to nearly double its GPU training capacity in Q2 2026.
7) The Cybercab will not be subject to the annual 2,500 autonomous vehicle cap.

TESLA AFTER A SPACEX IPO
Many analysts assume a static pie — i.e. a scarcity mindset. They think a SpaceX IPO hurts Tesla longterm by splitting Elon’s (and investors’) attention. They somehow forgot that Elon Musk built both Tesla & SpaceX simultaneously to trillion-plus valuations. Tesla has always been volatile, a SpaceX IPO is just this week’s excuse. Traders make money from volatility.
These analysts are ALREADY WRONG. Within 3 months of AJ’s doomsday 2/25 analysis, Tesla & SpaceX are deepening a mutually beneficial partnership. This isn’t a zero-sum game. Instead of each company remaining on a trajectory to be an $8 Trillion company, Elon Musk leveled up to a new 100 Trillion market cap goal.
Instead of competition between Musk companies and divided loyalty, Elon Musk has tasked Tesla/SpaceX/xAI with one audacious mission: remove the constraint of Earth and its limited resources by kick-starting a true Space Economy flywheel. Digital Optimus, the Terafab and AI Space Compute are just the start. A SpaceX IPO primes the flywheel with initial operating cash.
This is the biggest undertaking in human history — an investment opportunity that could exceed today’s Earth economy by 10x, 100x, or even 100,000x. What’s the actual limit once humanity goes galactic?
The “Elon Musk community” doesn’t split — it gets stronger as the mission converges.

I think a lot of people discount how autonomous vehicles fit in with Tesla's original mission of accelerating the advent of sustainable transport (and later, energy).
Current privately owned cars sit parked about 90% of the time. Autonomous vehicles, by contrast, will operate most of the day, transporting many more people per vehicle. That higher utilization means fewer total cars are needed, reducing the materials, energy, and resources required to manufacture them. In the US, transportation is currently the leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. This autonomous shift will likely result in Tesla producing more cars overall, since they will have the best (in my opinion) and more cost-effective product, but the industry as a whole will produce fewer vehicles, in my opinion.
Additionally, so much space is currently allocated in cities to street parking, parking garages, and parking lots. The median percentage of land dedicated solely to parking in major cities is about 25%. There's so much we could do with that space once we transition to full autonomy.
Manually driven cars built in the past will still be able to be driven in the future, and the Model 3/Y will likely continue to be produced for a long time. Not to mention, the next-gen Roadster should be an awesome driver's car. But if we want a safer and more sustainable future, autonomous vehicles need to happen.
I think many Tesla fans feel a strong sense of sentimentality for the Model S and Model X, so they are sad to see them go (I am too), which is understandable. The Model S changed the world. But as @elonmusk said in October 2019: "The Model S and X are really niche — they're really niche products. I mean, they're very expensive, made in low volume. To be totally frank, we're continuing to make them more for sentimental reasons than anything else. They're really of minor importance to the future."
As Tesla moves closer and closer toward an autonomous future, change was inevitable. The future of Tesla is autonomy, robotics, and energy, and I think all three of those things will have a hugely positive impact on the world.

5) Regarding Optimus, could you share the current number of units deployed in Tesla factories and actively performing production tasks? What specific roles or operations are they handling, and how has their integration impacted factory efficiency or output?
