📢 Huge thanks to @licia_lugli@isotta_guidotti@Spaggenio
et al. and the 8 Italian NICUs for this collaborative effort!
Clinicians: consider enhanced EEG + MRI in your protocols.
Researchers: more RCTs needed to fine‑tune treatment criteria.
⏱️ Time to initiation of therapeutic hypothermia varied by HIE severity:
• Severe HIE: median 3.2 h (IQR 2.6–3.9)
• Moderate HIE: median 4.5 h (IQR 2.8–5.5)
• Mild HIE: median 5.2 h (IQR 4.1–5.8)
Among infants 33 to 35 weeks’ gestation with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, hypothermia at less than 6 hours’ age did not reduce death or disability at 18 to 22 months’ corrected age. https://t.co/aEmPvyPsco @lina_chalak, @LizSewellMD
Another Canadian taskforce work from newborn Brain Health working Group similar to the preterm brain injury classification work ( https://t.co/DP9ZDqY2II )
We hope this will decrease variably in HIE outcome measures. Gratitude to all taskforce members
