@GallaudetTim@ProfAviLoeb The majority of the astronomical evidence that led to the acceptance of a heliocentric model of the cosmos was provided by Catholic astronomer, the majority Jesuits or Jesuit educated so, cut the bullshit about the Church hiding truths
@MyExcellencyAJ Copernicus' work was not denounced but merely categorised as a hypothesis not a proven theory. Galileo was never tortured. Bruno was not burnt for Copernicanism and wasn't even a scientist. Most of the advances in astronomy inn the 17th C were made by Catholic astronomers
@jayweidner37 The Jesuit Order was founded in 1540 and never supported the flat earth theory. By the time Galileo’s became involved in astronomy the Jesuits were the leading astronomers in Europe. It was the Jesuit who provided the necessary confirmation of Galileo’s telescopic discoveries
@MohawkMikeCats Neither Copernicus nor Galileo was ever in anyway accused of blasphemy. If you want to pontificate of the history of science then do the necessary research instead of spewing out ahistorical garbage
@NoMansSky Sean, aren't you ashamed of yourself? Warner Bros. is forced to release crappy live-service games that crash worse than the Hindenburg in 1937, while YOU, I mean YOU, are releasing DLC after DLC every other month! Who do you think you are? Winston Churchill? Willy Wonka?

@skdh Hi Sabine, brilliant list! I see every other day people claiming you're a mouthpiece for Musk or other tech billionaires, I think you should add this to the file. Keep up the good work going!
@skdh Visual astronomy is one of the most emotional activities one can access with a moderate money investment (and the will to learn the night sky). No picture, no matter how good it is, can replace the feeling of seeing for the first time with your own eyes a distant galaxy.
@NoMansSky Sean please stop it, I know that you are taking seriously the JL Borges line about the "river of delights" in "The Lottery of Babylon", but this is getting ridiculous. I'll be in front of your home with a stash of money tomorrow morning, you like it or not!
@skdh@d0rc I feel you shouldn't get involved in such "talks". They favour the hype-makers, and the less this happens, the better it is for real science. You made your point clearly and admirably. Nirvanic should answer with facts (if they can), not by milking more free publicity from you.
