The EU is stepping up support:
🔹 €2M in humanitarian aid to help affected people with food, water, shelter and protection
🔹 73+ tonnes of lifesaving supplies shipped to Burundi to support refugees.

Seven EU Relief trucks carrying 73+ tonnes of lifesaving aid from Nairobi have arrived in Burundi. The supplies—shelter materials, blankets, mosquito nets and water purification tablets—will support newly arrived refugees fleeing heavy fighting in eastern DR Congo.

Une mission @eu_echo #HCR #ONPRA a visité Bweru, site octroyé par le @BurundiGov pr accueillir les familles fuyant les conflits à l’est de la #RDC &en besoin urgent de protection. Le soutien des donateurs pour aménager ce site encore à l’état naturel est un impératif humanitaire.

Donor support to develop this site, still in its natural state,is crucial to meet urgent #humanitarian needs.

[IOM East, Horn and Southern Africa 🇺🇳 @IOM_EHSA]

To support the growing number of refugees from #DRC entering #Burundi, IOM dispatched 73 tonnes of relief items on behalf of @eu_echo’s #ReliefEU Nairobi stockpile. The 35,000+ items, including tarpaulins & jerrycans, will be distributed by @UNHCR_Burundi to families in need.

Last month, heavy fighting in eastern DR Congo triggered a massive displacement crisis, with tens of thousands fleeing into neighbouring Burundi. In response, the EU has dispatched 7 trucks carrying over 73 tonnes of lifesaving aid including blankets, mosquito nets, water purification tabs & tarpaulins.
