$BCTX The Recent Offering & The Future

Last week, $BCTX leadership clarified that the recent (May) approximately 5 million dollar offering was because the phase 3 readout could be very late this year. This readout is triggered by 144 death events. The timing is difficult to predict so they wanted to leave a financial cushion. (There had been a 30M offering in January.)

The company has not issued a firm estimate of when the 144 death events will happen. They have said November or December is possible. My sense is that they are expecting October, but they want to be prepared if it is November or December. (One factor that could delay results is better outcomes with Bria-IMT.)

They have not decided if they will issue a press release when the 144 mark is reached. So, it is possible that there is no major news until the data has been analyzed and they are ready to release the results.

Concerning enrollment, they stated, "Things are going quite well." There can always be some hype in these kinds of statements. The signal I take from this is that enrollment continues at a steady rate.

Today, the company has about a 38M market cap. At the end of April, they had approximately 22M in cash. The 5M raise in May added to cash.

If the results of this study signal that FDA approval is coming soon, that radically changes the value of the company. Given the side effects of ADCs like Trodelvy versus the excellent tolerability of Bria-IMT, the annual sales are likely to be in the billions for late stage breast cancer. The market cap can quickly exceed a billion.

Strong data will bring a variety of options to finance operations going forward. It could trigger a buyout, a loan, or a partnership. Yes, there could be dilution. However, if the company's value goes up exponentially, there is plenty of space for that.

Do not invest money in a company like $BCTX that you cannot afford to loose. I seek to identify multiple companies like this where the potential rewards are great so I can spread out the risk. Here, they just need to match the phase 2 results. There is no guarantee of that, but that is the most likely outcome. If the most likely happens, the rewards will be outstanding.
