@lepture AFAIK- No consent required for “strictly necessary” cookies.Not sure it’s required, but it’s good practice to still disclose the usage of the cookie eg in a privacy policy or something. Ref: https://t.co/9RVqLgK0iA
I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?"
As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.
@laceynwilliams Hi Lacey, I can really relate to those feelings! if you decide to give Mastodon a try, and esp. if you're struggling to figure out where to sign up, the python and django community is really great there! https://t.co/5B7ZSjaIYH or https://t.co/08eOgbtQjl seem like good places.
jk I'm not actually back here. Trying to get active in engaging with social media again but not on this hellsite, or whatever is left of it. You can find me at https://t.co/SzWEjgpRO7 , and probably nowhere else.
Vote below the line in the upper house until a government has the courage to fix a system so easily manipulated. The fixer can demand $55,000 for advice and then the candidate elected can put him on staff to cover the cost. In the end you pay.
@driscollis Yup! 15% speed up just in integration tests ❤️ and relatively painless to upgrade - only a couple of packages that have given me issues and mostly only on windows …
@driscollis 🐍virtualenv with pip-tools
I switched from poetry once pyproject.toml support was good enough in pip-tools. Some stuff is not as good, but I like being able to use PEP621 compliant metadata, and having a compiled requirements.txt instead of a poetry.lock file
@simonw I’d been thinking about using Datasette in a Django project, didn’t realise it’s so easy. Channels has AuthMiddleware() https://t.co/hQRTXbiiKm which I imagine could make for a good starting point for a plug-in to support Django user auth directly 🤔🤔
@stilgherrian the combo of many small files, mechanical disks, and recent macOS file system changes would’ve been my guess too.
Highly recommend Samsung T5/6/7 external drives to replace your rust platters. Fast even on an old usb 3 MacBook, even better on the new ones. Very durable too.
@mblayman It’s very fast on local - With xdist, it adds very little time to testing. In CI it’s slower (package install time etc) so I only run it on merge checks after the rest of the tests pass.
If the tests fail it gives me a video of the headless browser session which is super useful.
@mblayman I mostly do view level tests, with a very small number of “e2e” tests in Playwright (using their pytest plugin), running a live server and testing a couple of full user flows esp where JS/htmx is used. It runs alongside the rest of my unit tests and gives me good confidence.
@RonniSalt Possibly not Josh doing this. Since she’s deleted or disabled her account, all RTs get reported as “deleted” but it’s just the knock-on effect…the monitoring can’t tell the difference.
