Men used to legally own women like slaves, and all women wanted was to not be treated like dirt.

Beating and raping your wife was allowed by law until the '90s. So yeah. Women fought to be treated like humans, and men (like the South) are mad about the loss of their slaves.

There used to be a law in S. Carolina until 2012 that, if a man was given sexual consent, the woman could not legally retract consent or stop him until he was satisfied (so it wasn't rape).
