@cagefree_human@CeeDeeWai@EinatWilf 😄
the historical timeline you have in your head needs some work.
the massacres in Mandatory were committed by Arabs in the 1920s and 1930s.
Whereas:
1931 = Irgun founded
1940 = Stern Gang
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf if you look to history to determine who "owns" Jerusalem or are "native", you're only gonna get one answer
they founded it, and they've lived there uninterrupted for 4,000 years+
for relatively brief periods were they a minority (Roman, Crusader, and Jihadist periods)
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf my sources are mentioned on that site (Wikipedia) that you selectively snipped from.
i love the coloured visual chart by the way... hate to break it to you, but Jerusalem has been inhabited by humans for at least 4,000 years. not 400! 😂
and guess who founded and lived there?
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf I just presented you with 3 sources that supported my position.
and the best you can do is shout: "fake news!"
looks like I win.
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf 3/ in 1864, the British consulate in Jerusalem estimated 8,000 Jews, 4,500 Muslims, and 2,500 Christians.
the 1874 British Consul's report to the UK House of Commons gave the figures of: 10,000 Jews,5,000 Muslims, and 5,500 Christians.
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf 2/ They generally only counted the notables of towns, some villages, and then asked for estimates.
Whereas, for example, the French diplomat César Famin, estimated in 1853 that Jerusalem City comprised of c. 8,000 Jews, c. 4,000 Muslims, and c. 3,490 Christians (Arm, Arb, etc)
@mano_da_bounce @NeeirBar @mr_spacedog @EinatWilf 1/ "myth". haha.
there were not "Ottoman or British [sic] census [sic]" in the 1840s-1860s of "Palestine" or "Jerusalem", because they didn't EXIST as separate entities. They were a part of the Vilayet of Syria. And Ottoman "censuses" of various were notoriously unreliable...
