Upgrading to Gemini 3 Flash (or Pro) isn't just about swapping the model name. There are several critical parameters to consider:

— Setting the correct thinking levels and ensuring maxTokens has enough tokens to handle both thinking and output
— Keeping the temperature at 1.0 (don't tinker with it)
— Setting thought signatures if you're doing any function calling (or even chat)

It's more involved than a simple model swap, but if you do all of the above, the models perform really well.
