Dragonball was the first Anime I got into as a kid. I would stay up until 2am watching it, rushing to bed when I heard my mom coming home from her late shift. Those are very good memories!
RIP to one of the best and most influential people to ever share their gift with us.
The Japanese voice behind Goku in the 'DRAGON BALL' series, Masako Nozawa on Akira Toriyama's passing
“I don't want to believe it. My head is empty because I don't want to think about it.
Even so, every time I see Goku, I remember what Toriyama Sensei said to me, 'You will take care of Goku, won't you?'
I cherish that moment. It makes me think: 'I will stay by Goku's side until my strength runs out completely'.
Sensei, please watch over us from the heavens.
We hope you depart in peace.”
The way that Dragonball changed my life and the life of so many can not be overstated.
That show taught me resiliency, perseverance, to never lose hope even in the worst times, and the strength one can display from their love for others.
I needed Dragonball. When I think about the times It motivated or helped me escape the world, it’s enough to make my eyes water.
The friends I’ve made because of that show. How many times I waited for even a small spark of blue to pop out my hand. Or put my two fingers on my forehead whenever I was late lol.
It helped me become the man I am today.
And I owe all of it….to Akira Toriyama
Thank you for all of the amazing creations you’ve given this world. They are a part of so many lives. We are all eternally grateful and can’t thank you enough. I’m so glad that right before you left, you got to see Goku small one last time.
On your way to see King Yemma we send you our energy.
This man showed every comedy writer and producer alive today
exactly how it's done. He inspired all of us to elevate the genre to something beyond just the laughs. He leaves behind a staggering entertainment legacy, with the crown jewel standing as perhaps the greatest sitcom ever, "All in the Family", a modern-day viewing of which is enough to humble any of us writing for TV. Even more impressively, he flew 52 combat missions with the Air Force in WWIl, and was decorated for his service. How many of us in the industry can say we fought the Nazis, AND made some of the best TV of all time? I once asked him to tell me about his experiences in the war, and what it was like to fly consecutive missions with such frequency. He said the worst days were when he didn't really know the rest of the guys in the crew. Only a born comedy writer could risk his life to help smash Hitler's regime and then say the toughest part was the social anxiety. And even though he lived to 101, he never became an old man. He could have stuck around a hundred years more, and never become creatively bored or apathetic, even for an instant. I will miss my friend Norman Lear, but if there was ever a life to be more celebrated than mourned, it's this guy. He did it right.
“Let us be grateful for the providence that sends among us men and women with the courage and vision to stand peacefully but unyieldingly for what is right.” – Ronald Reagan
I’ll never forget recording this. It was agonizing. My throat burned like utter fire for a week. But our screams are our legacy, it defines Dragonball and it’s how we’ll be remembered. So, much like Vegeta, there was no way I was going to give it less than my absolute all.

Here's how I voted multiple times this year (plus one from back in the day)
