@capspatch9@LukeCerpinTaxt Rantanen would only sign with like 4 teams and the Caps weren’t one. It’s not about Patrick being afraid to take risks, it’s that star players have tons of options and control, and the Caps aren’t at the top of their lists. That would be true regardless of who is GM.
@LukeCerpinTaxt I have a real hard time believing the Wings want Strome as a primary piece in trading Larkin, especially coming off such a down year. My guess is they would rather get younger immediate impact players
@capspatch9@LukeCerpinTaxt What star player has changed teams over the last year besides Hughes that didn’t have a high degree of control on where they went?
@TheCupitals I always thought if a fired coach got hired by another team, the coach forfeits the salary from the team that fired them. Maybe I’m wrong on that, but if that’s the case where Vegas has to pay him regardless, I get it.
@TheCupitals 100%. Fan mock trades often hurt the head because they make literally no sense for the other team lol. If the Caps trade a roster player in a package for a 1st line forward I think it’s McMichael. Probably not the primary piece, but he’ll have good value to other teams.
@TheCupitals Kyrou. Johnson and McTavish would be fine too depending on price given their age and hope change of scenery helps. Don’t think most of these players are that intriguing though for the Caps needs.
@TheCupitals I’m sure this also came with a recommendation from Jared Bednar as well given his relationship with Spencer Carbery. That’s good enough for me.
@LukeCerpinTaxt The Caps traded two 3rd round picks for one of the best goalies in the league the last two years. If you are going to be weak in any area in your prospect pool, be weak in net.
@nosoup4knowles Hershey’s is in every gas station and grocery store in the country. You think they care that a conservative news outlet made a few thousand chocolate sales at launch? None of this stuff has anything to do with DW’s core business and it’s why he’s gone.
@nosoup4knowles It’s a private business, so no? I can point to him no longer being CEO, a round of layoffs, $100M on a kids network for a business that generates $200M/year in total revenue, creating a line of razors and chocolates to compete(?) against real businesses in those spaces, and more.
@GolfAndCucumber@FrankTheTank454 The Leafs are not accepting a 2nd line center, a middle six winger and a mid first for a 28 year old two time 60 goal scorer. It really isn’t close to the rumored Hughes deal because that included Hutson and the Caps wouldn’t do it then.
@LukeCerpinTaxt@Capitals I’m not saying she’s entirely responsible for the Kraken’s problems, but I also don’t know how she bears no responsibility for some of them either. She has a very limited coaching background beyond that as well. I just have a hard time believing she’s the best coach available.
