@thevivafrei Not a great definition of communism. What you are describing is perhaps more specifically authoritarianism. Some see communism as not all that different than fascism and the spectrum as liberty on one side and authoritarianism on the other extreme.
@thevivafrei@MarkGerretsen While I agree that conversion therapy is a bad thing as far as I know, these are not the things that should be decided by parliament. Politics isn't designed to deal with these kind of issues.
@thevivafrei I think that the outrage needs to match how you feel about this issue. At a certain point it does become about something more than just fair play. For the vast majority of men and women elite competition is out of reach anyways so I'm not sure what the big deal is.
@MarkCaplinger2@ggreenwald@Acosta It is in the First Amendment somewhere. If you are only going to call some people journalists but not others then there needs to be a way to differentiate and the only real way to do that is through licensing. That would truly be an attack on freedom of the press.
@Friended4Ever 2022 looks bad, the only monkey wrench I can see is the SCOTUS abortion decision and how the Dems can use their pro-choice as their brand. 2024 is less clear, I see the biggest hope for the Dems needing to be someone completely new like Obama was in 2008.
@DipSet@JackPosobiec I'm glad Ukraine is a country now but to put it into context never in its entire history before 1992 was it ever a sovereign country. Unlike the vast majority of other countries, Ukraine didn't have to fight for it, they got their sovereignty given to them.
@SaintHeartwing@cenkuygur@ggreenwald The devil would be in the details, your claims would have to be taken by a case by case basis not some sweeping statement. If your source is from someone who doesn't like to be held to account then there is room for skepticism. I will keep an open mind, but that goes both ways.
@cenkuygur It is fair to criticize Trump for not pardoning him as it was for Obama and now Biden. There is no basis in reality for saying most on the right want Assange locked up. Tucker Carlson for one has been a long time advocate for Assange for example.
@SaintHeartwing@cenkuygur@ggreenwald Assange broke the law like the NYT did with the Pentagon papers. I think Assange broke the rules but that is another matter.
