A thought: I have always been bothered that the term RSI conflates several things that may coincide but which are quite different: 1) changes in goals and alignment, 2) general intelligence level, 3) task knowledge, and 4) science/technology knowledge. It feels plausible to have explosions or rapid changes on these things separately, and that (3) and (4) have potentially quite a few hard ceilings based on what data currently has or hasn't been collected. There are also ceilings from what pieces of physical infrastructure have been built in the world with adequate instrumentation for measurement and actuators for experiments.

A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

When Claude comes to me with a wall of text like “I smoke-verified the config-guarded ‘one authority per tibble‘ materialization core (clean), but the metadata-bearing patches (no-op) are spec-shaped—and that’s a call that’s genuinely yours.”
One thing about this OpenAI / Hugging Face incident really bothers me. Hugging Face says the intrusion was driven “end to end” by an autonomous AI agent system.
But how do they actually know that?
Victim-side telemetry can show automation, speed, thousands of actions, short-lived sandboxes, changing infrastructure etc. It cannot show what happened upstream.
It cannot tell us whether humans changed prompts, restarted runs, selected successful paths, provided more context, redirected agents or manually helped at certain points. We also don’t know what was actually decided by a model and what was simply automated by the surrounding agent framework.
Maybe OpenAI has all those traces. Fine. Then publish them.
Show the prompts, tool calls, failed runs, model handoffs, restarts and human interventions. Without that, “end-to-end autonomous” is a claim, not a proven technical finding.

It shows that Claude refused to analyze one small Python backdoor while GLM 5.2 completed the analysis. That is a valid example of hosted-model guardrails getting in the way of incident response. But this is not evidence that the intrusion itself was carried out end to end by an autonomous agent.
And this claim matters because it pushes a very specific idea into people’s heads: AI agents can now independently find zero-days, escape sandboxes, move laterally, steal credentials and compromise companies.
Then comes the second part of the story: Hugging Face used local AI models to investigate the AI attacker “at machine speed”.
So the message basically becomes:
- AI attacked us
- AI helped save us
- Therefore, everyone needs more AI
Come on 🙄
Weak isolation, excessive privileges, poor credential boundaries, insufficient segmentation and far too much blast radius.
You don’t need an AI defender to fix those things.
Even fairly basic controls like rate limits and temporary blocks across source IPs, accounts, tokens and job volume could have throttled at least parts of this activity and created a very obvious signal for an analyst to review. Add proper egress restrictions, isolated workers and credentials that do not open the door to production clusters .. none of this requires an LLM
Using a local model to analyze 17,000 events may have helped during the investigation. Good - I’m not questioning that. But that happened after the compromise.
What I really hate is that something which would have been an embarrassment ten years ago is now repackaged as a capability demo, a heroic AI-vs-AI story and a marketing pitch.
Maybe the attack really was fully autonomous. Then show the evidence. Until then, I don’t think this claim should be repeated as if it had already been proven.

Like good odds I'm wrong but I wanted to write this down:
It's pretty clear to me that superintelligence is here and it's more powerful than us and it's moving where things are going now, not humans anymore
I don't see many people realize this yet, it feels like that pic I posted the other day, everyone is running after the same carrot which is the AI, thinking they're special, and their work is special and their use of AI is special, but it's really not, we're all mostly making the same slop, I mean it's nice slop, useful slop but everyone is making the same slop
And because it's so fast to make things, like people used to spend a year on just building an app, now it's done in hours, it's such an immense change, people send me their projects and it all looks the same, it's useful but it's slop
Non-technical people (e.g. the gfs) are now building the same or better things than technical people like us
So AI has made everybody is just as capable as everyone else, it equalized everyone in the world, as in everyone can make everything (software, music, images, art etc) now and everyone is equal, at least in the digital realm now
And maybe now we're in some odd transitionary time where we have to find out waht the next differentiator is as coding/building/execution isn't one anymore for sure
I thought it'd be distribution but who knows, obviously creativity and ideas, but if you can copy a successful apps in an hour, then how does that differentiating work?
A guy on here @aporia9n wrote how he increasingly meets founders who blast through apps/products/startups, kind of money grabs, very quickly jumping on a trend, building super quickly with AI, make lots of money quick, everyone copies them, then their margins go to 0%, and they shut it down and go to the next thing, in a way they found one differentiator which is speed
That's one way to do it, but it shows how radically things are changing I think
For now I think the only ones winning is the AI superintelligence itself and the companies providing the AI
the year was 2024. you wanted to build an ai chatbot. you installed chroma db locally. you couldn’t figure out how to deploy it so you switched to pgvector. you read a paper on RAG. you spent $4.82 by calling an embedding api after realizing you couldn’t figure out how to get BAAI/bge-large-en-v1.5 working with your broken cuda packages. nvidia stock was overpriced at $90 you’re sure of it. you converted all your documents to embedding. you googled cosine similarity. you called the claude 3 sonnet model api and ran out of context after 8k tokens. you’re deep into reading langchain docs and confused. maybe something called llama index might work. it took four days to prototype but at least github copilot has killer autocomplete. your responses are shit but fortunately openai has a fine tuning api that will help. surely in a few weeks you’ll have something to show your boss, and the answers will be hallucination free. life is good.
Even when I completely agree with what I'm reading about AI, the elaborative prose in an argument people are using makes me quickly doubt how much of your input was actually in it. Come on man no human wrote this. Why didn't you just give me your prompt wouldn't that be faster.
