Once again we’ve seen an evacuation of an aircraft delayed significantly due to people taking (in some cases very large) carry on luggage with them during the evac.
Watching those big bags go down the slide sends shivers up my spine. Very close to damaging the slide.
@Subflyer@Autopilotuser I do my best to keep a spreadsheet of sector pay & note of SNC payments so I have key information but you're right, even though things are automated they're not always done correctly!
@Autopilotuser Naturally our sector pay is easy to calculate as it depends on the length then it's a nominal amount. I can imagine timings become more complicated. We get 2 payslips...1 which is purely sector pay then the second is our end of month payslip which is the first + everything else

The people of Newfoundland came together to help 7,000 stranded passengers at Gander airport. 📍🗺
The locals cooked breakfast for all 7,000 plane people.
What are we doing today in 2024? 🤗
Pilot here. When I pop out of the cockpit to go to the toilet if you say "if you're out here who's driving?" you are deeply unfunny. Every. Single. Fucking. Time.
When management treat pilots a a a commodity rather than partners in airline success bad things happen.
What has happened at Cathay is a travesty and easily foreseeable.
@AsdaServiceTeam went shopping on Thursday. I was intrigued by the offer but then saw the best before date on the product...November LAST year?!
What is even more disgraceful is that I checked 3 other packets and they all had the same BB date.
Can you get this sorted, please?

@sainsburys brought these rice cakes a couple of weeks ago and this is the second time I've gone to have one but the packaging is slightly opened. Rice cake (obviously) was stale. Can this be sorted, please?!
Here’s an idea…
Get ITV to make a drama about Prince Andrew next
Or Russian interference
Or the crimes committed by three pro-Brexit groups
…given that’s what it seemingly takes to trigger investigations.
@PilotTris Yep! Used it ~3 years ago. Great way to get an extra 25% bonus from the govt (if the rules are still the same as when I did it).
Was rather stress-free, too. Our solicitor sorted out majority of it all, so I'd recommend it from my experience.
RYANAIR APOLOGISE TO PASSENGERS FOR 2HR DELAYS AT GATWICK AIRPORT DUE TO NATS STAFF SHORTAGES
Ryanair the UK’s no1 airline has again called for NATS CEO Martin Rolfe to quit (or be removed by the UK govt) as staff shortages at Gatwick airport (Dec 14) caused passenger delays of up to 2hrs.
Today’s NATS failure follow on from weekend disruption caused by NATS mismanagement and is just over 3 months after Martin Rolfe presided over the NATS system failure on 28 August. These repeated failures are unique to the UK and are not repeated in any other European ATC services. It’s time for overpaid CEO Martin Rolfe to quit or be dismissed.
Ryanair spokesperson said:
“it is unacceptable that passengers continue to face disruption due to the mismanagement of NATS by Martin Wolfe. Only 3 months ago, their system failure caused long delays, diversions and cancellations and now passengers are facing over 2hr delays this morning (Dec 14) due to NATS staff shortages.
These repeated UK NATS system failures are unique to the UK and are not repeated in any other European ATC service. Our passengers want a competent UK ATC service and Martin Rolfe has repeatedly shown he can’t deliver it. He should go and let someone competent run UK ATC”
Don’t be fooled—efforts to reduce the number of pilots on the flight deck is about economics—not safety. The best safety system on every flight is at least two highly-trained & qualified pilots on the flight deck. #SafetyStartsWith2
@British_Airways trying to check in for my flight SCL-LHR BA250. I've prepaid for seats and whilst checking in, 1 of these has been moved without me being told. I didn't finalise checkingin online but the app is saying we are checked in. Can you help? I can send screenshots on DM
