@holysmoke In principle not against evangelisation through different mediums, but St. Peter's of all places is not the venue for this type of event at all. Liturgy and prayer only IMO.
@Culture_Crit Truly a sacred space. My only qualm when I visited was the sea of cameras and the ensuing infernal clatter of shutter noise. I made a point to put my phone away and simple bathe in the divinely inspired beauty and sanctity of the space. We need more of this in our culture.
@EsmeLKPartridge Totally agree! It makes little to no sense to expect people to do PhD's in humanities in order to teach them. It's no different in music, to get a lecturing position it's the norm to have a PhD. but invariably the subject matter is entirely different to the lecturer's specialty.
@RichardBratby Similarly in terms of taste and content, it seems that programmers are less concerned with serious art and more concerned with pleasing those perceived to be more fashionable than themselves. All of this leading to a fundamental dumbing down of society as a whole.
@RichardBratby There's a kind of peculiar middle-class conceit I've encountered that working class people can't understand 'high' art and thus need to be plied with vapid, short form content devoid of substance, lest they get too educated for their own good.
@ManchesterBaro1 Very special experience hearing Bach's sublime St. Matthew's Passion in Manchester Cathedral tonight with Manchester Baroque. Look forward to attending their other events this year.
@SaveYourSons It's a sickness of reality-detachment that has infected society that views children as a burden and marriage akin to being in shackles. Where is the sense of duty to humanity? To the community? Are people really content to just live a life of unbridled hedonism?
@PageauJonathan Well said @PageauJonathan - Christ was sent in order that we may know and understand God. As he became man he also came to know the one thing God as Father cannot, to be mortal and in doing so his love and sacrifice created a new covenant to redeem all from our fallen state.
@Culture_Crit A good start would be inspiring and encouraging the wealthy of the world to invest in publicly available beauty instead of dozens of Lamborghinis and trips to Vegas. Patronage has always been an essential to allowing great artistic movements to flourish.
British pianist Mr. Luke Jones visited our Ryuyo factory in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan!
Here we share a short video of his wonderful piano performance.
Thank you very much!๐น

@miniver I'm pro-reading but this raises interesting questions, pre-literate people needed to have a level of memory that have virtually disappeared today due to widespread literacy. People are hardly 'smarter' today than 1000s years ago we just have better information distribution.
