After many years of not fully understanding the enormous challenges we’re facing in the copper market, we are FINALLY starting to see more realistic price targets.
Last night, analysts at @BMO raised their copper price forecast to ~$18,000 per tonne by 2030… 50% above what the rest of the street believes.
Despite the many factors behind their upgrade, one key catalyst is the “freight train of capex” necessary to support existing mine output.
Copper miners today need to “spend more to stay”… our industry needs to spend considerably more on sustaining capex to offset declining grades as we mine increasingly challenging ore bodies.
But we are still only at the foothills of the Himalayas…
@PratapRanade@DJIGlobal We recently bought a DJI Lito X1 and it is one of the best value products I've ever seen - incredible quality at an amazing price.
More competition would be great though!
It's not nonsense. I went camping recently, and we were looking out for the Perseid meteor shower. In the hour or two that I spent lying outside with my wife, we saw dozens and dozens of satellites. It's impossible to look up at the night sky without seeing them. I don't think it's a huge problem myself, but that you always will see them is a fact.
“We own copper. There is no new supply coming over the next 8 years, and we have a big add-on from the data center buildout.”
- Stanley Druckenmiller
The problem staring down copper is starting to go mainstream.
New multi-element results at Tierra Roja support a porphyry interpretation at the core target.
Rocks: Cu with Ag, Au, K and Mo; K often >2%.
Soils: Cu–Zn inverse zonation; Pb–Zn halo around the high-Cu core.

Just finished a couple of field days at Tierra Roja with the sampling crew.
A couple of photos here of potassic alteration and silicification in Jurassic andesites ~2.5 km SE of the core zone. Good sense of how far the system reaches.
Caliche cover is extensive, so systematic sampling is tricky, but the outcrop is there if you look for it.
