#UWJ201 The final aspect of the persuasion model being reinforcement draws interesting ties to psychology. It reminds me of Pavlov and his dogs, do you think there is a link between the two concepts? #321
@sophiefriedberg My school had a rather racist school mascot that never got talked about until it was changed, and then people came out in droves to support the old mascot which was disheartening. #UWJ201 #321
@AlexaRappaport I think that there are a lot of news outlets that will have different priorities, and that which ones are more in the forefront depend on the company making the news. #UWJ201 #321
The lecture from Wednesday discussed the standards of journalism, and it seems that some news companies have begun to move away from these standards by no longer calling themselves news companies, but media companies. Is this a dangerous trend for journalism? #321 #UWJ201
@EichstadtSarah#UWJ201 #321 Yea, I remember talking to someone on the other side of the political isle and finding that we actually agreed on a lot of things, but disagreed on how to go about making them happen.
@karaboyle003#UWJ201 #321 I find that social media brings an even greater divide between different sides, making it far more obvious that the hostile media effect is greater on social media.
#UWJ201 #321 When discussing the hostile media effect, it was very interesting to see how I view balanced articles as more or less balanced based on if they agree with my views or not. Anyone else?
@AlexParizek I'd like to think that it's possible, but informing people seems to be less and less to be what news networks are trying to do recently. #UWJ201 #321
#UWJ201 #321 Talking about framing in media has been very eye opening. Now when I look at different news articles and titles, I can see just how the titles are so different between articles on the same story to try and make me see the story in a certain way.
@paigehovanes I have found that more people are turning towards news sites, especially over the election season, in spite of the bad news or possibly because of the bias humans have towards negative news. #UWJ201 #321
@kentzminger24 I also found this interesting as in other classes I have talked about how America is very much the leading market for television, but is slowly falling away so it will be interesting to see if this dichotomy switches. #UWJ201 #321
#UWJ201 #321 From Monday's reading, has there actually been a death of partisan journalism? Form what I have seen, journalism may have fallen away from partisan lines, but the "news" is consistently becoming more partizan, especially with the opinion shows of today.
