Lucas knew selling the company meant giving up formal control of Star Wars, but he was under the impression he would still have some involvement, and that his creative input would be valued. Instead, he was *immediately* sidelined at the story stage, when the treatments he sold to Disney were drastically altered without even consulting him.
According to Bob Iger, Lucas felt ambushed and betrayed when he found out. Just because Disney legally didn't *have* to use Lucas's stories doesn't mean it wasn't a professional insult when they didn't. Lucas was under the impression that there existed a certain understanding between him and Iger based on professional respect, but he was wrong.
Again, he understood he was selling Star Wars and that that meant he couldn't call all the shots on his own anymore. I think what really galled him is that they immediately threw out his *story* for the very first sequel. He didn't think the relationship was going to be like that. That's when he completely separated himself from Star Wars.
I don’t think the mother meant: “cover up or your brother will rape you”. It’s more: “Cover up so your teenage brother doesn’t have weird and complicated thoughts about his own sister”
I am astonished at how brazen the unregulated drug market in the USA has become in places like smoke shops. The one near me recently began selling these two products: Plur and Xum. Plur openly markets itself as “molly 2.0” or legal ecstasy. It uses a research chemical known as 5-MAPB which closely mimics the effects of MDMA. Xum uses 4-HO-MET, also known as metocin, a psychedelic designer drug which until recently you could only find on places like the dark web. So this place sells
-7-Hydroxymitragynine (basically diet heroin)
-diet MDMA
-a slew of psychedelic drugs
and it will likely continue to escalate from there
George Orwell, in 1984, describes how the Party keeps the Proletarians sedated with “five-cent novelettes, films oozing with sex, and sentimental songs which were composed entirely by mechanical means on a special kind of kaleidoscope known as a versificator.”
I just find it pathetic how we've had full on proof of Celebs in Hollywood who were on that island and harmed children and nothing happens.
But leaking a stupid overrated video game is more of an offense.
It costs $200 to go outside, you’re surveilled the entire time and everyone you meet has this post-Covid social autism where talking to them feels like trying to communicate with a robotic alien and there’s a palpable layer of suspicion around everything
