Next up on our #CaRMSTipTuesday feature: @samwilson_95, an R1 in EM here @emergmedottawa! You’ll find him biking to work (all season) or on the side of a mountain (probably also all season??) He has some important advice he’d like to share with students going through CaRMS:

“We challenge senior residents in the ED to ‘run a section’ – but when it hits a critical number of patients, we’ll step in to help. Not because the resident can’t handle it – but because they shouldn’t. At some point, the cognitive load no longer becomes educational.”
Palliative care is habitually associated with cancer care, but this leaves a large scope of patients that would benefit from palliative services.

Vaccinated teens are hospitalized 10 times less than unvaccinated ones.
The virus causes more myocarditis than the vaccine, & when MISC is factored in, the myocarditis is more severe.
The vaccine has killed 0 kids, the virus has killed > 100 teens.
Provaccine docs will share.
The longer I practice EM, the more I admire EPs who practice in non-city settings. Enjoy transfer calls; not only who they’re sending but the myriad of pts they’re able to manage w/ minimal support. We don’t learn from you enough. Major respect. #FOAMed#FOAMcc#medtwitter
I don't think that we consultants realise the impact we have on our junior staff.
Think back to when you were a junior doctor and how it felt if your boss praised you, or rebuked you...
It could make or break your day.
How do you treat junior staff now?
Thank you Dr. @docpgb for writing this article.
