I guess a better question would be, can you name other singular words that commonly shorten but keep their S?

Lots of singular words are umbrella terms for multiple things. None of this gives precedence for this particular kind of word shortening.

Ultimately I don't care if people say math or maths, but I disapprove of the other guy trying to correct it.

@Hugo_Potamus @AbzHehe @ananaasEdits @elonmusk Nothing wrong with *math. Mathematics is a singular word that ends with s (hence saying "mathematics is" rather than "mathematics are"). If you don't shorten "Economics" to "Econs" then you shouldn't shorten "Mathematics" to "Maths".
