Thank you @MrsNewell22 @TracyZager @dhabecker for teaching me a different perspective of how to teach mathematics to students. I have learned so much from all three of you and hope to carry all this math knowledge with me as the years go by in teaching! #MTBoS
I've seen many of my colleagues post from this school and makes me want to visit this campus one day to feel inspired of their creative messages to their students.
It saddens me to realize that some students are not taught to think independently and are only relying on the teacher for help. Teachers should let students think on their own in order for their learning to grow and are able to collaborate their ideas with classmates.
I learned this semester that we need to hand over some control to the students. We have lots of knowledge, but we should use that knowledge to guide students into becoming independent learners and thinkers who are okay with constructive criticism and collaboration.
As I was teaching my 5th graders how to add to and subtract from whole numbers and fractions, I noticed their enthusiasms from the variety of different strategies they were using to solve the expressions. #proudteachermoment#MTBoS
The old fashioned way of teaching didn't really teach me how to fully understand mathematics. After reading from Tracy's book Becoming Math, I can now think of teaching math differently to my students. #MTBoS
I make mistakes in front of my students once in a while so that they could see that their teacher also makes mistakes too and Iโm not afraid to express it as much as they should learn from them as well.
Never be afraid to admit a mistake. No one is perfect and a teacher should model this to their students. We are all human. We all make mistakes. It is OKAY.
Thank you @Scholastic for hosting a book fair in our school! It brings great memories from when I was growing up and proud to teach students about book fairs too #whyiteach
As I was helping my 8th grade nephew with his homework, he told me that his teacher introduced him to @Desmos to learn more about solving systems of equations. #MTBoS
