• Texas (a U.S. state): total area of 695,662 km² (268,597 sq mi).

Texas is roughly 5% bigger by total area (the standard way these comparisons are made, including inland water). Even by land area alone, Texas comes out ahead (about 676,587 km² vs. Alberta’s ~640,082 km²). This is why direct size-comparison maps and sources consistently show Texas as the larger of the two.
