#rspatial#rstats news🚨We released a new version of {sfnetworks}, an R📦 for analysis of spatial networks. Special about the new release: it is the first one on CRAN! Checkout the docs here: https://t.co/aUdHy8R0oX @loreabad made a nice GIF to summarise the core features:
@martinfleis @robinlovelace I prefer to install geospatial pkgs from source and point them to where gdal, geos, and proj are already installed on my system. I do the same for R. I don't like to have multiple versions installed in different places. But I guess this may be considered risky and bad practice ;)
The Italian parliament is now discussing a revision of the Traffic Code that severely limits road safety, the control of traffic speed and the development of active mobility. Road violence victims families are mobilizing to ask a review.

📢 New Job Alert at @ITSLeeds 📢
Research Fellow in Transport #DataScience with a focus on modelling active travel uptake 🚀
Interested? Please get in touch or share this new opportunity with anyone who may be 🙏 https://t.co/NKvjgRNw8Z
I am finally heading to #Mastodon for academic "outreach". A platform that is a much better fit for open and reproducible science imo. If you want follow me at https://t.co/CcWdao0SW5 Staying here for cycling content though ;-)

Why is a zebra crossing the only 'safe' space to cross a street? And what happens to a street if it becomes one big zebra crossing? 🦓👷♂️
Check out this disruptive field lab of @thelabofthought: 'what has been seen cannot be unseen!'
@jfulponi Nice! Have a look at the sfnetworks package if you want use it as the basic data structure for spatial networks: https://t.co/MDlXB63ctj And stplanr which is meant also for transport planning cc @robinlovelace
@NickBearmanUK While it does not contain a ready-to-use function for it (yet?), the R package {sfnetworks} for geospatial network analysis might get you on the right track. See e.g. the vignette on routing: https://t.co/Sl4tYQJ0pS
@aimandel @OSGeo@RoelandtN42 @_VincentS_ We also cycled, from Austria (well, we cheated a bit doing some parts by train). If we go next year it will be by bike again of course 🚴♂️👍
