Apocalyptic scenes from Mandalay, MM. Only seeing small snippets of what is happening, given minimal internet or electricity. Supplies of food and water running scarce. Lack of machinery or govt support to find people under buildings.

Survivors mourn loved ones in the streets, with monks offering blessings. They've lost not just their families but also their homes, leaving no place for proper burials.
MYANMAR NEEDS HELP

To international aid providers, Naypyitaw only has minor damages. It’s Mandalay and Sagaing which are hit hardest and need the most help right now. People are trapped. They could be rescued.
Especially Sagaing. Usually people in Mandalay would go help Sagaing. Now impossible
Myanmar’s junta is still bombing in spite of a devastating earthquake and a ceasefire announced by some opponents in the face of the disaster, reports @IrrawaddyNews. Air raids even took place near the epicentre as well as northern Shan State, it said. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
Death toll rising up after #MyanmarEarthquake.
We can't control the disaster, but we can control who should be in charge of managing its aftermath.

#MyanmarEarthquake: I will be posting updates, firsthand observations, and thoughts from within the country in this thread. The situation is terrible, with aftershocks continuing, electricity outages in impacted areas, and (almost) no free press on the ground. The majority of local journalists have been exiled following the coup in 2021. With civil war ongoing, there are real concerns about how the junta will respond.

ASEAN and neighbours must provide immediate medical and humanitarian aids to the villagers. The world must provide meaningful assistance to protect civilians from junta's airstrikes. @IntlCrimCourt Impunity must end.

Heartbroken by the latest aerial massacre in Sagaing. The Myanmar junta continues to commit brutal atrocities, killing at least 50, including children. I implore the UN: how many more massacres must occur before you take action? How much longer will our people suffer under this?
Kachin local media reported that the junta military inhumanly BANNED the urgent medical treatment for over 100 civilians who were injured by barbaric airstrikes at a music concert - 62th anniversary of KIO army in #Hpakant town, #Kachin state this morning. @UN@hrw@WHO@nslwin
Kachin singers Aura Li, Galau Yaw Lwi & Keyboardist Ko King (Keyboard) were among dozens of victims killed in junta’s airstrike on a music concert celebrating for KIA in Hpakant today. #2022Oct24Coup#WarCrimesOfJunta#WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
For how many more innocent civilian lives do we have yet to grieve ? For how many more heroes do we yet have to sacrifice ? What just happened in Phakkant last night is a clarion call for concerted action to exterminate the military fascism .
